Anyone use a Prepared Food Delivery Service?
I have been looking at/researching a Company called Freshly.com.
"Chef prepared," healthy entre's and sides.
Wide variety of choices that vary week to week. Wide variety of meal plans. (4/week, 6/week, etc.) You can select any one of 7 days a week for delivery. No delivery charge. (Yes, I know "delivery charges," are built in to their meal plans.)
I am looking at their 4 meals per week plan at $59
Would be healthier than hitting fast food joints on the way home, when you are beat from work.
Please look them up before commenting, if you would.
Anyone currently using such a Service, I would welcome your input/advice.
Thank you in advance.

We use Blue Apron. It's not prepared food, it's the ingredients and instructions for preparation and cooking. No grocery shopping. We get 3 meals delivered in a refrigerated box. The ingredients are in exactly the quantities needed. Everything is well marked. You do the prep and cooking. Step by step instructions are easily understood. 0 -
Just finished looking at BlueApron.com. (Thank you for the link.) How do you like them? How long have you subscribed? (I do notice yours are 2 servings at $59 for 3.)
Take a look at Freshly.com. Sir. (Very appetizing choices, and a lot of them.)
Leaning that way. Chef prepared meals, healthy sides, 3 minutes to nuke em'. Done. Just want to sit down and eat, after a hard day at work.
4 meals per week/$59, is what I am looking at.0 -
Thank you for the replies.
I am looking at totally Chef prepared meals. No prep/cooking involved. (Last 4-5 days easily.) If not consuming them by then, freeze. Individually packaged. Simply nuke them for 3 minutes. Done/eat.
Check out Freshly.com's web site.
A huge selection of healthy, always changing entree's. ("Based on the freshest ingredients available at the time.") Apprx. 20 entree's to choose from currently. Nice healthy sides.
I might give it a try. No contract. Order week to week, cancel anytime. Set up whatever, (7 days) delivery date, works best for you.
I was pretty impressed with their web site/entree' selection.0 -

Pretty much what I hit, and take in to work for lunches. (Boston Market, Stouffers, Healthy Choices, etc.)
I would like to do a little better for myself for Dinner.0 -

Several months ago, a friend of mine and his wife tried Freshly.com to replace dinner a few nights during the week. I asked what he thought of it, as I was considering it myself after he told me about it.
They were both reasonably impressed with quality and taste, as well as the delivery of the product,.....here is where it turns negative, and why I didn't bother trying it.
(A) Everything is 'gluten free', which is great if you have celiac disease, but I don't. That means any meal containing pasta of any variety is pretty much going to stink. Regardless of what people with gluten issues say about 'some' gluten free pastas, they suck when compared to the old standard.
(B) Unless you like eating very light in the evening, you're going to need two or three of these 'meals' to fill you up. I don't over eat by any means, but would certainly have to eat two of these if they were to be my complete dinner.
(C) The final and big issue for me is while they claim to use 'healthy' ingredients, (and very well may) there is quite a lot of saturated fat considering the portion sizes. Now for someone that lives off fast food, it's probably a decent improvement, but not for me.
These services are probably ok for the right person, but I prefer my system. It's pretty simple if you don't mind cooking a little bit. Every other weekend I make two decent size complete meals that would feed about four people, with an even larger entree. I leave enough out for the next three nights, and vacuum pack the rest into individual meals, and freeze. I then have enough food for two weeks, and all I have to do is heat it in boiling water, or nuke it at night. I rotate the two meals as preference dictates, and make some steamed veggies as I start to run out of sides by the middle of the second week. I can control the saturated fat, and sodium which unfortunately is something I must do thanks to my marvelous genes and family history of heart disease. Basically, I only spend about 2-2.5 hours cooking for an entire two week period.
If you must have something different every night, and don't like left-overs, my way is not for you then.
Probably wouldn't hurt to give the service a try yourself,....it's not like there's a commitment or anything. You may love it.0 -

You ain't wrong. It's amazing how far they've come from the old TV dinners of the 60s. I had a BBQ rib dinner with baked beans and cooked apples the other day that was better than some I've gotten in restaurants before.
After seeing some videos of what delivery people do with the food they deliver we don't even order pizza's anymore.0
