Sounds like a one of a kind rarity.

Southbys may be able to quote it if you send a pic and description.

There is a TV show that used to do those quotes. Cant recall the name of it.

The wife and I sold antiques and collectibles like that for many years.
If it has some sort of provenance or background story that is confirm-able, it would be worth a lot more than just a novelty item.

Take for instance, it was marked with carver's name and a ship's name and date, it would
    be much more valuable.
Without pics of all sides, I would guess a value of only about $25.
With good history about it, it could go to $100 or even more.

It's not ivory so don't worry about selling if you want.

So we're finishing going thru my dear mother in laws "stuff" and came across this! About 16" long with 2 carved "feet" and 2 pegs or whatever they call them. Black inked "board" on top with polar bear, seal, 2 rabbits and some leafy things. The bottom has an inked in map carved into it. Kinda neat. How would one determine the value of such a piece? Thanks

I sent an email to my cousin in Alaska who has a large ivory collection for some ideas for you.
She suggested to contact the Georgia Blue gallery or the Two Friends gallery, both in Anchorage as your best bet for information as they handle lots of walrus tusk ivory items.

Good luck and you should post a picture

Hey-Sorry, just noticed your post! I appreciate that. I'll attempt to contact them. Did some military assignments up there at Elmendorf AFB way back.

Doesn't apply to walrus Ivory which remains readily available.
