So me and Sirjo have actually become very good friends hahahah! He found me on Facebook under Kristen Upchurch. We have so much in common it's really scary haha. They definitely had to know each other. To make this thread even more amazing I just wanted to update you all. Charles Barbier tested positive for Covid-19 in his nursing home along with his daughter and my aunt...been a rough few months BUT they both overcame it! This 101 year old man nothing can bring him down hahaha. If anyone wishes to see the media coverage there has been soooooo much from good morning America to the today show to the New York post! This is 1 of the articles https://www.baltimoresun.com/maryland/carroll/news/cc-veteran-covid-recover-westminster-20200528-jkdptb6pmrbhhde2yepf6gwhka-story.html

if you were on facebook, i would refer you to a B-17 fan group, that would probably have more information about this. the administrator knows all the little nicks and crannies concerning building variances, which plant, which run of planes made, which modifications made, when made, in other words the whole she bang. let me know if you want that group namethe group name is "flying fortress 1936-1945" 3 -
yes the tail # is the history, but that isn't all this group goes with researching a plane.. battle reports, photographs. this group can positively confirm ifa strange looking item on the craft is a result if factory origin, secondary finishing, or in the field modification due to choice or battle damage repair.....there was a 40 post discussion about the shape of a windowon the nose on one plane andit was cussed and discussed to the point it was decided it was a battle damage repair using a window taken from the scrap heap-different sight of manudacture the the plane being repaired 0
