Toll roads- ouch
I had a toll account which apparently covered 3 of my 5 vehicles. My truck was not one of them.
Well that wouldnt really matter because I only drove the truck on the toll roads to this one particular match about 2x a month (so 4x a month up and down the toll road).
I also kept an auto renew balance on my toll account at $80 so there would never be a question since I have cars & motorcycles.
Well the truck license plate never got onto the account.
I got a past due notification (1st ever) this week I suppose after my address had been updated.
Total amount due $345!!!
Get this - the $80 sitting in my toll tag account can?t be applied to a past due outstanding balance.
So since I have too keep uncle sam off my ass for my security clearance- I paid TX their extortion toll money.
Yes- there are plenty of opportunities to be proactive but this was the first ever delinquent payment notice I ever received and when I called them they said the past due tolls dated back to January 2017.
Life goes on...

I saw on the news several weeks ago that there were some serious issues recently with either TxTag or TollTag, can't remember which or maybe both, and some folks were getting overcharged. If you think you might fall into that category you should look into it. 0 -
Hate surprises. A few years ago Judy and I decided to take the Great Lake scenic route around lake Huron. Great trip including a fall color tour train ride in northern Ontario, Niagara Falls and other great sites. Traveling from Sudbury to Niagara was easy . Just plug in the GPS and follow the instructions. After we were home for a month we got a bill for about 37 bucks for a toll road. Never saw a sign, toll booth, and nothing on the GPS indicating A toll road. Did some research - Yep we were on a toll road all right. Would have been nice to know at the time as there are alternate routes. Bob 0 -

Going through Rhode Island (when I lived up North) you would pay between $11 and $15 in about 15-20 minutes crossing Toll Bridges.
I would explore the TX overcharge issue if I were you Warbirds. ($345 seems kind of steep.)
Good luck Sir.0 -
the new tappan zee bridge over the Hudson is a scam too.
it takes them a month to get it to you if youre out of state and when you do get it, you get it 2 days before its overdue. so you mail it in and next month they carry over the late fee and the charge, and keep doing it until you pay the late charge.
id prefer the humans in booths.
funny....the garden state did away with basket drops and went to humans to avoid losing tolls on cheats.
and....the dot makes up for it by charging honest people twice.
