This is not a scam.....no matter how sketchy I appear....for real!
Someone paid for a gun back in October. Its just been sitting here waiting on an FFL. We sent several emails with no reply. Finally, Shelby found an obituary notice when searching the buyer's name......so we know this transaction is not going any further. So, I did a quick search and found his daughter's facebook pages. I am 100% certain they are his relatives and they are the only two people named as his survivors.
So, I send out the suspicious facebook message to both of them hoping that they will contact me. It ALMOST read like a scam message......"I'm in need of money and just need you to let me send you a check that you will cash." Yeah, almost that bad....but not quite.
I sent...."I am trying to contact someone from the estate of ______________ because he paid for an item and we were not able to deliver it to him. We realize he has passed and would like to either resell the item or send the item to someone from his family. Please contact me for details."
I didn't know if I would get a reply or not......but we did.......I don't know if I would have responded with how suspicious I am about everything. I'm glad they are more trusting.
So, after messaging back and forth with the details she said for me to relist it and send payment when it sells. I still have to wonder if she realizes this is for real or not???

shouldn't you be dealing with the executor of the deceased estate to be sure ? 0 -

Exactly true to be legal IMO.0 -
I'm too tired and busy to go any further than finding the daughters that are the only people mentioned in his obituary. 0 -
I had the exact opposite trouble when my wife passed 4 years ago.
She {and I} sold a lot on ebaaayy. When she passed, she had 4 completed sales ready to ship, and about 12 auctions with bids going, and about 25 other items listed.
A call to Ebayyyy and a faxed copy of the death certificate, and Ebaaay notified all bidders that the auctions were closed and all bids are voided.
I managed to ship out the 4 completed sales after a email sent to the winners by ebaaay that there will be a delay in shipping because of time needed to take care of the funereal.0 -
Doesn't GB have a process for dealing with deceased buyers and/or sellers? 0 -

not to sound cold but legally he/buyer could not pass the background check anymore so wouldn't the weapon just sit at the receiving FFL's and be his problem or Kasey's to sell it again? I know morally Kasey is doing the right thing and I would hope we all would in the same situation...0
