Dealership refuses to sell truck w/ rusted frame
Four cylinder trucks don't last long on dealer lots. I found one at Bob Rohrman Toyota website. Called about it last Thursday, salesman said it hadn't been detailed or inspected but he would call me when it was available.
Yesterday I saw they had added many new photos to the listing. Called today, guy said he would call back. 2 hours later I called again, got someone else who stated they weren't sure about the truck since the frame is rusted. He finally called back and said "not for sale" but I have another truck, same make, model, engine & transmission, 2 years newer, half miles, twice the price. It also has a rusted frame but we're going to replace the frame. You can buy it today but we can't deliver it until it's fixed.
Times sure have changed. When I got back from overseas in 1983 the local Ford dealer sold me a '72 VW super beetle rusted so bad part of the floor board was missing. Got it for $250, welded some steel in, covered it with plywood and drove it.

Toyota has a problem with some of their trucks rusting and I understand they have replaced a lot of frames. 0 -
wouldn't want to buy a truck with that badly a rusted frame, can't blame them for not selling it in todays sue happy world. 0 -
Toyota had a recall on certain trucks with large frames...
Dealership here had a big pile of the frames they took off.0 -
Wife just reminded me that when we were shopping for a SUV.
Test drove a Toyota and behind the stealership they had a pile of frames racked up for disposal.
Must of had a boatload that had a big salty wave blast them...0
