thursday thru weekend
we have recieved over 3" rain not counting last two days here at home and a small tornado just skipped by with no damage ..lake place in eastern kansas has had two bouts of rain there totaling 14" not counting last two days and we are under rain and storm forecast for the next few days at both...lake is full and dumping as much as allowed due to much rain there in se kansas and oklahoma.....the most i have seen that lake rise after big rains years ago was it came up 30+ ft in 48 hours with water and debris going at the tops of the flood gates till they got orders to open them...the outflow basin of the dam had pads of foam 5 ft thick swirling around ....made a REAL lake ....our lakefront is on the high side so no flooding issues but everything is SOGGY

I'm in Tulsa, and we can't take any more inflow from western Kansas or Oklahoma. Keystone Lake on the west side of Tulsa and several feet above flood stage. The Corp is releasing 250,000 ft3/s. If it goes much higher, the city of Tulsa has a serious problem on its hands. Lots of homes and businesses will be flooded. Say a prayer for Tulsa, and, that we get a break on rain NW of us for a few weeks at least. 0 -

stayed up last night prepped and the storm squeeked by on our east side with and great light show and we only got 1/2" rain......now a wad of storms are forecast for this weekend and our little home town of Jackass Flats is having their annual Jubilee...all sorts of activities and a carnival with rides for the kiddies are set up ...they are preparing to move as many things inside as possible...weather has stopped things several years in the past...some of the graduating classes have entries in the parade and a dinner to socialize....first part of next week is also forecast for storms...our lake place in eastern kansas is still getting drenched 0 -
don't know how much rain the lake place got since neighbor said we had recieved 14" but it had 3 waves got thru yesterday and has several days forecasted rain ahead..we checked the lake data this morn and it is 20% over flood pool....water elevation is now 10 ft below the top of the dam and the 7 big gates are open 5ft...i bet several towns downstream from our lake have been notified to evacuate areas and last night about midnight Fall River Lake alerted those living below the dam to evacuate immediately....some spots north of our lake yesterday reported 5 to 6 in rainfall....all this from three drainage areas goes south into Oklahoma... 0 -
correction 8 gates open and water level 12ft below the top of the dam releasing 16,500,000 gallons a minute and yesterdays rainfall over 729 square miles on the way.....people told me back in the 1980's one big rain dumped so much so fast they thought the dam would fail .. all gates wide open ....had pics of that and said that the water was roaring and the dam shaking ...... 0
