One of my favorite Westerns
Was on the other day; Hombre with Paul Newman.
Richard Boone is the bad guy and he is a great bad guy, swaggering, arrogant, crude and mean. Not many can do it better. Paul Newman is just as ruthless.

Then I watched another classic with little Audie Murphy; The Texican You know Broderick Crawford played a lot of bad guys in westerns.
As sung by Nico Fidenco a great singer and guitarist:
Mexican boots and a Stetson hat
Gun slug low with the trigger tied back
These are the signs of a fighting man
a man they call the Texican
They just don't make movies like those anymore, thank god for Grit TV.

It is a good Western. Very Original plot and Richard Boone kills it.
I love the scene when Boon climbs up to parley with Newman and when they are done Newman points his rifle at Boone and asks him how are going to get down. Boone trips and tumbles down the hill and Newman shoots him twice with that button magazine 73 Winchester.

I like when Newman busts the guy with the shot glass at his lips with the butt of the Winchester for harassing the Indians!

The internet movie database says 1873........................but I am kind of leaning toward a 76 due to the length of the receiver in front of the cover plate.0 -
I always thought it was an 1876. I know there was always some arguing about it, so I call it a Winchester!
Either way, I wouldn't want to get cracked across my face with either a '73 or a '76!0 -

The scene where he takes the ticket of the Trooper, in order to get on the Stagecoach, is pretty good as well.0 -
Sam, That and the bigger loading port, and the ammo he's carrying looks like .45/60.
