Mt. St, Helens erupted. I know a fella whose brother was killed in the blast. I also know some other people who were down there camping. They came home to do some things and were going to go back, but for some reason did not.

  I was attending Blue Mtn. Community College in Pendleton at the time and heard 'the boom'.

  It's hard to believe it's been that long. If someone had ask me how long ago I thought it had been I would have guessed 10 to 15 years. Amazing.

  I was thinking the same thing; maybe 20 years at the most.
  
  The power of that eruption dwarfs anything which we have or can create. So far as Mother Nature is concerned, humans are little more than bacteria.

  I knew it was 1980 because I was living in Central America at that time and moved back in Oct 1980.
