Washington State's new tyranny
On Tuesday, Washington Gov. Jay Inslee approved a series of bills that will tighten the state?s gun laws.
The new laws restrict access in a number of ways, including bans on ghost guns and red flag confiscations for juveniles and domestic violence suspects, AP News reported.
Inslee signed the following seven bills:
HB 1465 requires an additional background check for gun buyers who currently possess a concealed carry license.
HB 1739 prohibits possession of untraceable ?ghost guns? which include plastic guns printed on 3D printers and guns that do not have a serial number, which are usually acquired through a DIY kit. It also bans the transfer of files for 3-D printable guns.
HB 1786 authorizes police to confiscate guns from those served with restraining and protective orders.
SB 5027 expands ?red flag? confiscation to juveniles under age 18, permitting an extreme risk protection order to be filed against them and barring their firearms possession for up to one year, renewable on an annual basis.
SB 5181 implemented a six-month gun rights suspension from anyone under 72-hour psychiatric detainment permitted by Washington?s Involuntary Treatment Act, which is not decided by a judge but by a medical expert. In the past, those laws pertained only to people who had been committed by a judge.
SB 5205 bans gun ownership to those with a history of violence and found incompetent to stand trial but not committed, where the current law has only banned guns from those declared incompetent and involuntarily committed by a judge.
SB 5508 strengthens concealed carry license requirements, requiring applicants to undergo a fingerprint-based background check through the FBI in addition to checks through the state databases.
One bill that Inslee has yet to sign would require police to confiscate any weapons found on the property of a domestic violence call and put them on a five-day hold, regardless if they were used in a crime or not. -the most egregious of them all

Everyone will sleep so much better and safer since they have passed these "feel good" laws. Especially those that don't follow the law anyway. 0 -
The mental health angle is one which always bears watching. There are two groups who have no love: child molesters and mentally disturbed people with guns. Any law which involves those two groups will automatically pass. Quite simply, during a reelection campaign no one wants to be accused of being in favor of allowing mentally disturbed people to own guns. 0 -
I may be mistaken, but it looks like section 3 (1) (d) still allows manufacture from an 80% lower, as long as it's not for sale. I predict
a large percentage of gun enthusiasts will ignore these regulations. Another large percentage will be unaware. I recently attended a
long scheduled pro-gun rally on the capitol grounds. Weather was beautiful, excellent speakers flew in from D.C., Wisconsin, etc. Several
legislators spoke after being up all night fighting the budget battle. Turnout was pitiful. There should have been several thousand, but I
estimate 400- 500 at most. There was rumor of violent opposition, but the only one I saw was an old guy who accused my son of having a
small member.

HB1739 ghost guns ? What about pre 1968 22 rifles and shotguns that didn't have serial numbers ? Are owners of such guns be forced to have serial numbers added and their collectible value be destroyed ? Will we be required to give them up. The law is very vague. I have already had discussions in the past with uninformed law enforcement people about guns with no serial numbers.

Yep. Being judged as mentally ill is nebulous and subjective. Even worse, are the possibilities of political application. IE: Anchors like Maddow or Lemon asserting MAGA hat wearers are mentally ill or racist on public TV. DEMOCRATs often brand gun owners as insecure, and crazy
As far as having political application: DEMOCRATs are masters at politicizing everything. Especially the courts.0 -
Guess I have a ghost gun. Bought an old Stevens 20 gauge shotgun at a gun show in Puyallup years ago. No serial number anywhere on it. Inslee is an asshat. 0 -

You can pull the old Stevens out from the closet (or from the bottom on the lake). it is not a "ghost gun" according to the new Law:
1739(34) "Untraceable firearm" means any firearm manufactured after July 1, 2019, that is not an antique firearm and that cannot be traced by law enforcement by means of a serial number affixed to the firearm by a federally licensed manufacturer or importer.0 -
