When at the Jeep Dealership this AM -
Getting service/warranty work done to my modified Wrangler Sport Extreme, was checking out the new Rubicon Gladiator. (The new Jeep Pickup.)
Man, is that ever nice. Base price $44K.
Looks Killer, though. They will sell a crapload. IMHO.

They are very sharp/aggresive looking. They will definately sell. I see boucoup 4 door Jeeps around here.

While I agree, Dealership Service sucks, if I want to maintain my "Lifetime Warranty," my Oil changes have to be documented and done through them. Sucks, but there it is. Any other work, is done by me, or my very competent Mechanic Brother/Neighbor right down the road. 0 -
they're not really "JEEPs" anymore.
I'm going to sell my last remaining XJ Cherokee(an 01) this summer or fall and not even going to look at the brand again.0 -
Concept is bad ass, but the current engine, 3.6 pentastar V6 is a POS . I'd wait on the diesel for sure, but that'll be a $50K sticker. There is a reason jeep and Dodge have the highest cost extended warranties. 0 -
My ?11 Sahara has the old cast iron V6, not as much hp as the Pentastar but I?m guessing it?ll be running long after though. 0 -
We also have a couple smaller 2 door Wranglers around here that the owners have added a steel aftermarket cab, and they look like small pickups. Pretty Bad A$$.
We always wave at each other when passing on the road, Modified Jeep owners are like motorcyclists in that respect.
I have a short top (Bimini) with a back wall addition, with a Tonnoue' (sp?) cover. Mine looks like a pickup at that point. I get mad comments and thumbs up, in that configuration. I am about to switch it over to that set up, now that winter is over.0 -

Have had a number of Ram pickups and purchased a new Trail Hawk in 2015.
I do my own oil changes, routine maintenance, etc. The only time it goes to the stealership is if I don't have the electronic testing stuff for the new electronics and the recalls/warranty work.
NEVER had an issue!
Your owners manual says something about only having to have a record of service and proof of oil/filter purchases.
Besides, when I do it, I know it's done right and not by some flunky getting minimum wage just to do oil changes.
BTW: I am a certified automotive master mechanic, worked in the industry but quit professionally bending wrenches several decades ago.
I checked out the jeep pickup and not interested as have no use for one and not excited about the appearance......others' may feel differently however.0 -

I have wondered about that. I was led to believe that the only way I could maintain/retain my "Lifetime Warranty," was if it it was done through them, and documented.
I will ask some pointed questions.
I do (however) have 3 more oil changes pre-paid through them. (Cheaper that way.)
I would use Premium Synthetic, and Premium Filters, which they do not. I would much prefer to do my own routine maintenance to my vehicle. Plus, it saves me an hour+ drive over to Boone NC, on a Saturday morning, when I would rather be relaxing.0 -
The owners manual for my Ram & Jeep RECOMMENDS to use Pennzoil (partnered with Fiat/Chrysler) but previous years recommended Mobile1 oil which does not meet the new oil specs, probably designated by Fiat/Chrysler/Pennzoil.
The manual RECOMMENDS Pennzoil OR equivalent that meets Chrysler Material Standard MS-12633 for the Ram 6.4 Liter engine. Other engines had different MS designations are listing under 'Maintenance" in your vehicle owners manual...let that be your guide. Also, no where does it state oil changes have to be performed at the stealership.
Some claim the stealerships still use Mobile 1 in the new Chrysler/Dodge/Ram/Jeep vehicles.
Most likely, you have NO IDEA what oil the stealership is putting in because you are in the waiting area....not in the service bay where your vehicle is being serviced.
You would be surprised of the interconnection of various brands of oil if you do a little looking on the net.0 -

I looked at buying a Jeep,but and they may be good engines,the damn Chrysler engine changed my mind.I saw an article somewhere that a aftermarket company is putting GM LS engines in some Jeeps.That may be interesting. 0 -
