I need to buy /find some of this for a project I?m planning.
I?m at a loos as to what it?s called.
The piece I have came from a box that had IT gear in it.
Is it HDPE?

HDPE is hard plastic. (High Density Polyethylene) that thing in the picture is soft packing material. most commonly seen in the box with a brand new DVD/CDROM. don't know what it's called, nobody cares either. you can probably get all you want from the back room trash can at a Best Buy, ask them. 0 -
It is highly flammable. I strongly recommend that it only be used for it's intended purpose ---- protecting items during shipment.

Closed cell polystyrene I think. Good stuff for packing, no 0 -
Expanded Polyethylene Foam closed cell I believe.

I've got a zip-up soft sided gun case lined with that stuff, about 3/4" on the sides. Allen brand. I like it so wel that I quit using my hard cases when I need to take a rifle locally. That stuf also works good to line a fly (fishing) box. 0 -
