any matchbook collectors out there?

holy cow I looked up some sites and these guys take it serious.
if only I knew....I wouldn't have been using my dads up starting fires in winter.

    How about post card collectors? My mom will be passing on a collection of Post Cards from her Uncle. He was a Conductor on a Railroad up in New England in the 1900s,10s and 20s. Every time he went somewhere new he'd send his mom, sister and later his wife a post card(for the record talking about three separate people...lol) ....My Mom has hundreds of them from all over the country. They are all in order by date you can scroll through them in filing boxes and see the various places he ended up, both big and small.

    My wife and I sold antiques and collectibles for 15 years.
    There is a collector for EVERYTHING!
    We did sell a lot of postcards, most sold for $1 to $10 each. Thing is most collectors want unused postcards. Written on or postmarked cards sell for less if sold at all.
    Series or similar groups of cards are worth more. Like if you had all the cards from the state capitals, a collector would love that.

    A little more modern I collect zippo's I have around 300 hundred of them. Most are gun,military, or wildlife related

    My Mom as well, she put several hundred of them in a shoe box (I haven't ever sorted them), but many are from the late 1930s and 1940s. Would be interested in the link to the collector associations though.

    if you guys know any SERIOUS matchbook/box collectors, send them my way. I got one that started it all from the 1800's.

    I know a lot of folks here collect other than gun stuff. for those that remember the early days of fleabay, prices were cheaper and little guys put their stuff on a lot.
    times changed and ebay is mostly stores and dealers now.
    but, fyi, if you ever wanted a breath of fresh air, try webstore'. seems all the little guys went there and its free to list. hope it helps.

    They are interesting memorable and functional.

    Firestarters and cigar lighters.

    My late MIL started writing to movie stars way back when she was a little girl (late 1930's). Many well known one's sent her autographed pictures and a few including Red Skelton also included personal letters along with their photo autographs.

    When she passed away several years ago, my wife received her collection. All in a huge photo album. I went through it a while ago and was impressed with all of the biggest stars of Hollywood's "Golden Age" represented there!

    My great aunt and uncle had a big matchbook collection. They spent a lot of time traveling during the 30s though the early 70s and they had matchbooks from just about any place you could think of.

    I hadn't thought of that in years. I'll have to check with my mom to see if she kept that collection when my aunt died.
