Gee, I wonder what the rest of the story was behind that.

The extended "Africa" family / clan / black separatist / black supremacist / domestic terrorist organization reaped what it sowed...

The decision African American mayor of Philadelphia Wilson Good made to put an end to the insurrection event / African standoff was supportable and necessary - but the method used to put a stop to urban warfare and bring about a cessation of hostilities was arguably flawed...

The collateral damage to property and persons adjacent to but innocent of the criminal terrorist activity was profound and regrettable - but the combatants had through action and speech and philosophy of thought / creed abrogated their civil rights and legal or moral liberties...

You plant a demon seed and you raise a flower of fire.

They were exterminated like roaches and terminated with extreme prejudice - and like a cancer had metastasized and spread. Effective treatment of the tumor caused damage to the body as a whole - but letting the disease spread unchecked would have led to certain death to the body and like ripples in a pond spread to others - allowing the activity to continue would have led to more suffering and death...

Decaying metropolitan areas with LBJ's great society giveaways is the systemic problem with The USA and the politicians kick the can down the road until we hit the wall with the trainwreck they created! Nothing but the same old lies they have preached throughout History.

For a century we labored to settle and to subdue a continent. For half a century we called upon unbounded invention and untiring industry to create an order of plenty for all of our people.

The challenge of the next half century is whether we have the wisdom to use that wealth to enrich and elevate our national life, and to advance the quality of our American civilization.

Your imagination, your initiative, and your indignation will determine whether we build a society where progress is the servant of our needs, or a society where old values and new visions are buried under unbridled growth. For in your time we have the opportunity to move not only toward the rich society and the powerful society, but upward to the Great Society.

The Great Society rests on abundance and liberty for all. It demands an end to poverty and racial injustice, to which we are totally committed in our time. But that is just the beginning.

Many of you will live to see the day, perhaps 50 years from now, when there will be 400 million Americans ? four-fifths of them in urban areas. In the remainder of this century urban population will double, city land will double, and we will have to build homes, highways, and facilities equal to all those built since this country was first settled. So in the next 40 years we must re-build the entire urban United States.

The decision to drop the bomb was not 'arguably flawed' in monumentally stupid.

There was obviously minimal thought given to collateral damage, as the design of the bomb set fire to the roofs of an entire city block, razing those structures as if they were fire-bombed.

It is not good enough to admit that the consequences were not foreseen. They were not looked for.

A militarized police force has the ability to make much bigger mistakes than does a non-militarized police.

The home needed to be fumigated to be sure. More care needs to go into the planning of such things, though at some level we seem reluctant to really learn this lesson.

Say what you will about the people that were firebombed in this instance, but just remember: it's hard to convince people that the elimination of enemies of the State is a good thing, without first marginalizing them, and then demonizing them to the point of dehumanizing them.
