engraved?
Does this look engraved to you? To me it looks like a surface treatment. Nice of them to use the arrow to indicate which way the bullet goes

I imagine it is some kind of laser engraving that leaves the affected area black for better visibility. Not traditional for sure.0 -
It's not just the in depth contrasting color applique - the overall pattern or motif design aesthetic is not what I would choose or consider appealing regardless of the mechanism used to remove material...
I am more of a bank note or nimske aficionado or perhaps old west style flourishes with fuer de lis and stockade fences...
Still it's special to and valued by someone and if factory applied and lettered makes it rare and valuable despite my opinion of its artistic merit...
To me a guns constituent elements locked in a padded vise and labored over by hand with traditional tools of the trade applied by a true craftsman with a jewelers eye and temperament and training is what adds value...
Placing the piece in a Waldo equipped cnc style computer controlled all in one multi dimensional capable programmable device that can render the desired pattern in minutes is just not the same - it's a horse of a different color whose inherent value is measured on a separate scale or rating system...
Doesn't mean I would not acquire one given the opportunity - does not mean I would not have pride of ownership - but it is none the less different.

I just can't call this engraving. To me engraving means to remove material or sculpt a surface. I blew up the photos as much as possible and I cannot see any evidence of this. The comment about the sharpie to me was pretty accurate. Makes you wonder how well the treatment would hold up. Sure would not be worth a premium to me but I guess to each his own. Bob 0 -
