Houston Area Is Getting It Again!

Heavy rains rolling through. Areas experiencing flash flooding and some areas have gotten hail. Expected to continue off and on throughout the weekend. This has gotten old real quick. :|

    So I guess "Rich Rebuilds" will get more flooded Teslas. Also since they hadn't gotten around to deal with floods it'll keep happening. I hope folks get insurance before so they'll get paid.

    6 alerts _flood_lightning strikes, notices, take cover preferably in a something that floats, don't fly kites, don't stand under trees avoid umbrellas and tin hats outdoors. We didn't lose any GBGD members did we? ;)

    Looked later and it had moved north and east along the coast into louisiana. Looked worse,

    A friend works on contract for FEMA in engineering and reviewing claims, he'll have a job for many more years.

    It looks like Houston Texas on coastal swampland is getting a monsoon season permanently and will be the next New Orleans to give back to the Gulf of Mexico. Of course, The Federal government will keep subsidizing Flood insurance policies and run up The USA debt faster and Tax the working person some more.     The City is run by minorities now and with all the mismanagement and debt accumulating then soon it will be a flooded Detroit wasteland. Just watch!

    Since 1968, the federal government has provided subsidized insurance for homeowners who live in flood-prone areas?a program known as the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). It was created after a Department of Housing and Urban Development study in 1968 recommended the federal government provide flood insurance, arguing that a government insurance program could better balance goals of mitigation and economic development in flood plains than the private market. As of 2016, the NFIP has over 5 million policies in force and saves policyholders around $3 billion annually. But the program is out of control: It is currently $24 billion in debt; future costs will be much higher.

    It's starting already here in Texas.I think Dallas and Houston are the biggest metropolitan areas in Texas! Minorities illegals Hispanics are not helping either for taxes because of the benefits they get from The US Governments.The Texas Governor has already come out for a Sales Tax increase to give relief to property Taxes to the rich homeowners and Tax the working middle class more instead.

    For years, attention has been rightly given to Houston?s massive unfunded pension liabilities. There have been op-eds and position papers calling the city to either reform or face bankruptcy. Unlike Houston however, Dallas? crisis has largely gone unreported, despite more immediate urgency.

    Now Dallas is back in the spotlight, as its police-union members started to make a run for their pension benefits, exacerbating the already precarious fiscal state of the city.

    First, according to the Texas State Data Center, by 2040 approximately 30.1percent of the labor force will not have a high school diploma, up from 18.8 percent in 2000. If that occurs, a higher share of Texas? workforce would be less educated and low skilled, possibly making the Texas economy less competitive. Second, empirical studies show that low education levels are associated with lower income levels; therefore, failure to complete high school or college negatively impacts average earnings. Earnings data from the Census Bureau demonstrate this point (Chart 9). An increasingnumber of less-educated laborers would reduce the average income of Texans and in turn decrease tax revenues collected by the state. Third, overall enrollment in public schools is estimated to climb rapidly, growing at about half the state?s population growth rate, according to the State Data Center. Most of this increase in student enrollment ? Hispanics by almost100 percent and the ?other? category by 71 percent ? is expected to result from growth in the non-Anglo population because of its younger age structure

    You are confused, no state income tax here but sales tax is! And 10 % is coming at the point of sale which is better than income tax for the rich here but the working person, well he/she gets hit again by The Republicans! One thing the Republicans do is cut taxes for the rich and done quite nicely at that while the poor gets poorer and the national debt skyrockets with even more tax on the middle class getting no BENEFITS. See how the peanut game works and open your eyes. It not what the country can do for you,it's what you can do for the country! That's if your in the shrinking middle class that is. :lol:

    On Wednesday, Texas? governor, lieutenant governor and speaker of the House announced a plan to increase the state sales tax, which seems unusual for the state?s top Republican lawmakers. But KUT Austin?s Senior Editor Ben Philpott says it?s a way for them to get around the thorny issue of property tax increases.

    ?Property taxes are the most vilified thing that our state government does, so, it?s okay if we?re gonna increase this sales tax by just a tiny bit to help pay down those property taxes,? Philpott says of how he suspects the lawmakers view the issue.

    Philpott says they support a 1 percentage point increase in the state sales tax ? in other words, people will be taxed an extra penny for every dollar they spend.

    A high sales tax is MUCH fairer than a state income tax. Why, because everyone pays tax, spend more pay more. Don't want to pay a lot of tax,, don't spend as much. There isn't a tax on many if not all food items and other purchases and the tax on a new car is less than the general sales tax, or was.

    Serf, if you check you'll find out any vote won't be until 2021 and I give it a snowballs chance in hell of passing. Although a Texas State legislature is NOT paid much.

    Don't see where a state income tax is being considered? Again links are helpful and not cut and paste that's not noted as to where it ends and you begin.
