with that ruling about the magazine ban being unconstitutional (which they haven't made official yet) I wonder how that would affect the constitutionality of this law.
not like they really care about constitutionality unless it serves their purpose, but the judge did mention ammo in his opinion (along with all sorts of other types of infringements) so it could be used in a challenge to this stupid law.0 -

I've been yapping about this for months and squirreling away mines to see which way it's gonna play out. I got another gun show at Cow Palace to pick up before the crap in July. Looking forward to adding 100 rounds each of .168 and .175 Black Hills in .308 and few hundred rounds of .178 A-Max the Load-X does for my AR10 build. 0 -
Odds of overturning this without going to the supreme court (considering the opinions of the 9th circuit, and I expect Gavin Nuisance to appeal the magazine ruling to the 9th circuit) are slim. Before the online buying/shipping ban took effect I stocked up when I could. But considering the lunatic fringe in California, immediately upon retiring my wife and I bought a little 5 acre place in Idaho, and my entire stash is currently there. After we sell the central California house in the near future the only tie to California will be a granddaughter enrolled in college, who can't leave before her program is completed. We have one more load to move, and some remodeling to do in order to list the 5 acres/house and shop in the Sierra foothills. All 6 of our vehicles are wearing Idaho license tags, and since the first of the year all tax withholding on our retirement income is being held for Idaho state taxes. 0 -

I thought the same thing when I first heard of this,
BUT...
Nothing is written in the Constitution about ammo that I'm aware of. So I think it would be kind of hard to prove their laws on ammo are unconstitutional.
Correct me if I'm wrong, and I hope you can correct me. Because if it's not unconstitutional, I'm afraid the United States will follow shortly after, and the Second Amendment will actually be useless without being able to get ammo unless you have a good stockpile. But then they can always enact a law that makes ammunition against the law making our firearms obsolete.

Like Yosh and Trap55 I understand having to stay in a F-ed up place for work and family. I spent 40 years in California. Work there afforded me the opportunity to buy our 5 acres in southwestern Idaho (with a house and barn and 1800 square foot shop), without a mortgage. Neighbors are a little closer than at the California place, but they are all great people. The ones on both sides of us are transplants from Oregon. Some people think leaving a job that pays half ass decent for a low wage area makes good economic sense. I wasn't one of them. If California sucked in many ways, the economy here was pretty good to us. There's always the fact that an EBT card follows you anywhere. And that's apparently a viable option for some people without economic and/or family ties to a geographic area. But I don't regret being able to pay for my retirement home with what California allowed me to take with us.
I pretty much feel the same way about anyone who calls someone a dumbazz for not picking up and moving at the drop of a hat as I do about the borderline imbeciles that seem to want to claim that 51% of the voting public in their respective states (see: Oregon and Washington as prime examples) are all Bay area California transplants. They have no place in my world, and I have absolutely no respect for them.0 -

I have been cautioning members, both publically and privately, to knock off the insults aimed at other members. I haven't seen any alerts about you pop up on my panel, but If you continue referring to forum members as idiots and dumbasses, that will change. Other than your especially irritating writing style which is coupled with the overuse of exclamation points, you have thus far stayed off my forum radar. Keep it that way.0 -

Lobbying is ineffective and has been for some time. The Democrats hold a super majority in both houses of the California legislature and the current Democratic governor is a rubber stamp. When Jerry Brown was the governor (also a Democrat) there was at least a remote hope of a veto. With Gavin Newsom? No chance. If I remember correctly, out of 40 California State Senators, only 10 are Republicans. The State Assembly is about as bad: 80 seats and only 19 Republicans, but not all of them are pro gun (there are virtually no pro gun Democrats). Since there is nothing standing in the way of legislation being passed, everything that can be done must be done through the courts. The NRA has bankrolled several lawsuits, but besides those suits taking several months (or years), going to court is a crapshoot.0 -

TRAP55 - I don't mind the tax (much). I'm going to Cow Palace to buy from Steve who runs Load-X in Santa Rosa. Saves me a trip to Santa Rosa to pick up the ammo (no door to door ammo shipping in California). Black Hills I'll pick up in Mountain View when we pick up a buddy on the way to Cow Palace. I figure these "Match" rounds I'm squirreling away should last me long enough to see California turn around or me moving.
Up until 5 years back Oregon was the go to state but the way that state turned in to California, so glad I didn't move. Then Washington State was the other choice but that state turned in to another California and now those two states are trying to out do California's silliness. Saved me from wasting moving money and now I'm thinking Arizona, Flagstaff area? If I'm thinking Arizona I might as well move to Nevada. To be closer to my end of my days stay a Howard Hughes style motel there. With luck Oregon or Washington State will come to their senses so I don't have to live in the desert. Maybe if Trump gets a second term?0 -

Cali does take the cake. Other states have followed. If they see revenue oppurtunity or votes it will happen. Taxes on guns ammo and permits are certainly on the rise in blue states. As gun sales fall. The ammo taxes will rise to compensate for the differentials...
After all someone has to pay for the illegals benefits. Its about votes and money for corrupt politicians.0
