Instant Pot
Anyone use one of these things? I think it is a pressure cooker. The Mrs. bought one last year because all the women at work were raving about it. Ours has never been used yet.
Well, one of the guys at work is a big BBQ guy and cooks a lot. He said he has one and cooked some of the best ribs he has ever had. I have been wanting some shrimp etoufee, so I google an instant pot recipe for it. Think I'm gonna beat the Mrs. to using it.
Anyone use one? Easy to use? Any risk of the thing blowing up?

thats why you let the wife use it first..........0 -
My wife bought one. The real "instant pot" and not one of the knockoffs. She loves it. Uses it several times per week. Ribs always turn out great (but you have to put them in the broiler in the end to get the char). Hamburgers - hard boiled eggs - frozen solid roast in less than an hour.
We like it so much that we bought them for Christmas gifts last year.
Well worth it.0 -
We use ours all the time- and pretty happy with it.
In our case- I might buy chicken breasts and plan to grill them on the big green egg or maybe a pork loin.
Life gets in the way (I have 3 boys) & I run out of time to fire up my big green egg.
You can still get really nice meals with the same food from the insta-pot. We just had ?bbq chicken? from it on Friday night actually
.
Ribs are my absolute best dish off the big green egg- so I dont think I could bring myself to cook ribs in the insta-pot but Im sure they would be tender and enjoyable.0 -
It is a pressure cooker + a slow cooker and other things, will even boil a dozen or so eggs depending upon size. We use it a lot, particularly in winter making roasts. soups and stews. 0 -
If I may ask, how does it compare to a Ninja Cooker, if anyone knows? (Differences?)
The Ninja Cooker is a slow cooker/pressure cooker, with an Air Fryer in the lid, able to brown/char cuts of meat. I have been tempted to pop on one.
Any thoughts/insights appreciated.0 -

The insta pot isn't quite as stealthy as the ninja....

We have one and I cook with it quite often. Made Spanish Chicken and rice with sausage today for dinner. Very good and quick to make. I made a pasta bolognese a couple weeks ago that was very good. I bought this a couple years ago for our monthly pot luck lunches at work. Good for Chili, Chile Mac, Jambalaya, myriad of pasta dishes. BBQ chicken, Pork shoulder...
Check our pressure luck on facebook he has number of good recipes https://www.facebook.com/PressureLuckCooking/
I also have the cookbook "The Electric Pressure Cooker Cookbook" https://www.facebook.com/groups/130667671025758/0
