Rugby, YES!! I lived in Europe a few years and am convinced that a good rugby team would hand any NFL team's azzes to them in a match. It's just play on, no protective much of anything, not a bunch of sissy rules, just tough guys. 0 -
I loved watching Australian rules football on Wide World of Sports. Man, those guys are tough!

Australian rules football is what they play when they don't have the massive bodies of Rugby World league. basically a lightweight division...there are rule differences of course, but the 300 pound super athlete play rugby,, and the 220 pounder plays ARF. meet please a 290 pound Aleksana Tuilagi mountain of moving muscle....TURN THE AUDIO off if you don't like heavy metal/rap

wonder how many of those players in their later years are a bundle of aches, pains, and arthritis 0 -
by nature of the rugby rules, most of these hard hits would be penalised, which can be a 10 minute stay out of action, or a game ejection so the team must play shorthanded....these same rules monitor tackling techniques, lessening concussions and other serious injury...therefore chronic damage like spinal compression is less--head is not a weapon,..another thing in rugby's favor is playing on natural surfaces, not artificial turf..but i am also sure that the sheer violence of the sport has curtailed the career's of many a good mick. and left him with long time agony 0
