Owl vs Bird

We have a real pretty covered porch, timber frame, rafters of pine 4x8. We have 2 brass light fixtures hanging from the ceiling of this porch on little brass chains a foot long.
The last week in March a bird started landing on that light fixture and taking a crap. This crap landed right on the floor, right in front of the door. Damn bird showed up every day. We never saw the bird but you could tell he was a regular. This was a nasty mess and getting worse every day.

I don't like killing any of God's creatures. I bought this owl off of Amazon.

I put this owl on the porch railing for one day, and that sh*t bird was gone! That was 2 weeks ago and he has not been back.
I only put it up there for one day because, we have a little bat that makes a home up at the peak of that porch every year. He shows up in warm weather and he stays there all summer, hanging upside down during day time.
Well it is time for my little pet bat to return so I didn't want the owl to scare him off.

    We might have to try that. My grandson has the same problem with his car. A bird or birds light on his door mirror and crap down the side of his car. Not sure if it?s the same bird all the time. They have all those woods to crap in but they have to shit on his car.

    okay, next you can put a fake alligator head in the farm pond to keep the kids out

    Jim, had the same problem with springtime birds messing up mirrors. Not sure if it a mating thing or territorial or what. Anyway, just tie one of the plastic grocery bags around the mirrors to cover them while the car is parked. Fairly soon the bird will go elsewhere and the car mirrors will remain unsullied. It?s a cheap and simple remedy.

    It seems to work with some birds. Pigeons will sit on them, maybe to stupid to know a predator. It likely will not affect the bat, but you never know with bats. A place we stay in Costa Rica has a bar open in the day time with a refrigerator in an alcove anyone can access. Up to 18 bats roost on the walls of the alcove with people coming and going all day and it does not phase them.

    I have one on my porch also.
    The elderly neighbor lady has rubber snakes on her porch and they seem to work also.

    I've got a few scattered out around the house.......they cured my squirrel problem..fast :lol:

    I have several of them. And the best thing to do is move it around in different places but still to where the bird can see it. If you don't, the bird will figure out its fake and will actually come perch on top of head. Especially with pigeons and mourning doves. They realize really quick... like within a day or two that they're fake if you don't move them around

    My problem is turkeys and a pair of peacocks. No idea how the peacocks got there, male & female. But they hang out for hours at a time. Between the turkeys and them I have those little splotches of white liquid poop and J shaped turds.

    Not sure what to do. Both seem like they're too stupid to be afraid of anything.

    They're both pretty good eating, and the peacocks aren't protected by any laws that I know of

    I'm not into bestiality, so there's not an animal that's too pretty to shoot, as long as you eat it...

    I put a few feathers on sewing thread and super glued them to the shoulders and head of my plastic Owl. Seems to increase the effectiveness when there is a little movement.

    I'm not into bestiality, so there's not an animal that's too pretty to shoot, as long as you eat it...

    I had 2 misfires from a very dependable rifle one time while taking aim at the finest buck I have ever seen.

    I told my story to my late uncle who was "quite the hunter" and his reply I will keep for the rest of my life. He told me that it was not that deer's day to die.
