    If anyone shoots a cop in Indiana during an illegal entry please post a link on how it turned out, not good I'd bet. :roll:

    Is serving a properly signed, but improperly addressed 'no-knock' warrant an illegal entry?

    IMO, if you know it is a police officer, you would be a damn fool to shoot him unless you believe your life to be in danger.

    If you do not know it is a police officer, how are you supposed to know if the entry was legal or not?

    This law seems to be fraught with problems.

    IMO it is a sorry state of affairs when the Taliban has more rights than a citizen.
    "ROE can not be used to negate an individual's right to defend oneself from an attack. If, in peacetime, an individual uses force in self-defense, or in the defense of others, then attention must be turned to whether or not that force was reasonable and necessary in the circumstances."

    People seem to be under the assumption, that "no knock" is the way it has always been, Not so, in California before the early 70's if you were innocent and knew you were innocent you had the right to defend yourself. I effect if somebody bashed in your door at 0 dark thirty and ran into a hail of gunfire there is a chance the resistance was justified, Police or not. When I say a chance, the Police are famous liars and have a lot of practice.

    The courts decided "no knock" was necessary to prevent the destruction of evidence. And the argument has been ever since that human life (or even the dogs life) may be more important than the evidence.

    So a fair question is - you know there are no warrants out on you because you are a law abiding person, payed your taxes, aren?t harboring any illegal activities and then someone knocks down your door in the middle of the night and yells ?it?s the police, come out with your hands up?.

    Seriously, do you figure it?s the police at the wrong house or someone with less desirable intentions?

    I mean it?s a great way to stage break in and get people to pop out unarmed if you?re trying to rob them, etc... I guess I never thought of it that way before.

    Another likely scenario is one of those neighbors who like to project their will uses the Police as a club. You have a beef with a neighbor and they think engineering a SWAT raid on you is the way to project their will.

    Used to be the cute secretary for the local Cop shop that thought she was entitled to park in the handicapped spot. And if anybody said anything to her about it they got a visit from the Cops. The sad part is there was no shortage of parking spots and most were closer to her house than the handicapped spot. There are a lot of people out there who are plicks or batches for fun and entertainment.

    Without going into details.....In my younger years in NYC, I had dealings with not so
    law abiding peoples.
    The unwritten rule among them was NEVER throw down {point a gun or shoot} a cop.
    NEVER.
    A good lawyer could get you off from almost any crime, but a good doctor may not be able to save your life from a policeman's bullet.

    Today, even kids are shooting cops. :(

    No moral compass, they are either so self-involved they are borderline sociopaths or they have never figured out shooting a Cop just hurts the Cops family and friends (who likely never did anything to you). They lack empathy and are unable to project beyond themselves. One reason I'm anti-Democrat, most seem to want to expunge religion from society and replace it with law, how is that working out for you?
    Junk the Ten Commandments and replace it with a truckload of law.
