Chinese send probe to dark side of the moon. are they up to something?
the Chinese sent a Moon rover to the dark side of the Moon.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-6948277/See-far-moon-like-never-China-releases-stunning-new-images.html
they say they are doing it to see if the chemical composition of the dark side is different from the light side.
right.
let's have a poll. think they're up to something?
anyways it landed in a huge crater 8 miles deep because rocks are exposed. the dark side of the Moon still gets sunlight just like the light side does, and it gets up to almost 400 F and fries their wontons. here are some pics.

Air Superiority.
Trump at one time wanted to start a separate branch of the military to be the space defense. He did not want it part of any of the other existing branches. Whatever happened to that?0 -
heck if I know. call him up and ask him. 1-202-456-1414 0 -
Yes of course they are. My understanding is they have most of Africa now so the moon is next and commies like democrats prefer the dark side. 0 -
One of the things that really irritates other countries is a narrow focus issue that receives little attention but may be super important...
We - the US government - NASA - etc... used a series of purpose built relatively small low orbit mapping satellites...
They varied in payload and capability and onboard science packages - radar - lidar - thermal imaging - X-ray - terrain and topographic mapping - albedo / refractive spectrum analysis - directed concentrated radio waves - all sorts of stuff that I probably don't understand completely...
Tight ball of yarn orbits that had narrow focus and and closely examined the moon gathering lots of data...
They even dropped some small science packages onto the surface that measured vibrations - combined with dropping small monolithic impact projectiles - like an echo location ground radar and passive listening / reflective feedback data gathering devices...
This went on for awhile - was quite comprehensive and elaborate. Another factor that surfaced later was that the transmitted data was in code - an advanced new military code not normally associated with NASA and the space program.
Eventually some data got leaked or hacked or or intercepted - we apparently mapped all the water and ice to be found on the moon in painstakingly detailed manners - using some super secret DARPA based black ops equipment - we know where the ice or water is...
And we refused then - we still refuse to share the data - and it's been a point of contention with the United Nations and the Russians and the Chinese and other nations...
Apparently knowing where some of these deposit sights are is a key factor in setting up permanent bases and stations on the moon.
And they are angry and unhappy and think it's unfair that we will not share the data.

chinee have hacked our satellites and have mucho data anyway.....and we cannot see what is going on on the backside of they moon ...only guess if lots of chinee moon shots happen 0 -
The Chinese haven't invented anything since gunpowder but they are very good at stealing and reverse engineering which is the only way they were able to get to the moon. 0 -
Of course they're up to something, but I am doubtful it's of any nefarious intent. 0 -
Chinese are wasting their money. 20+ years ago the wreck of a Decepticon scout ship was discovered on the dark side and all wreckage including 3D simulated war games and related technology was moved to a secure area in Nevada. Years ago this technology was transferred to many first-person shooter video games used world wide to this very day.
This information was provided to the U.S. military by Optimus Prime. Optimus can transform but he couldn't speak Chinese. A real Coup for the U.S.

Somebody needs to send a probe to the dark side of you guys' brains.
(Now you'll claim that we already have brain probes, won't you?)
Pick any two of you and you have a pair o' noids.0 -
Rocky, you know more than anybody else here about why people might want to go to the moon and issues such as militarization of space. sounds like you have an opinion. tell us more. 0 -
It has to be fake. There actually is no permanently dark side to the moon. Since it orbits the Earth all sides of the moon get exposed to sunlight, just like the Earth. We have plenty of daylight photos of the other side of the moon. So, they must be making it up.

anyways just looked on space.com to see what the temp is on the Moon, they said about 215 not 400. because I had this brain flash about pizzas on the Moon, since it gets up to 400 during the day (it doesn't) you can cook a pizza in the sunlight, leave it there until night when it gets down to -340 F and freezes solid, whereupon it can be packaged with dozens of similar pizzas into a steel box and launched back to Earth (all robotic of course) landing in the ocean somewhere to be collected, which isn't that difficult. Taco Bell put a 40'x40' floating tarp in the ocean where they thought the Mir space station would hit
and give everybody in the U.S. free tacos if it does. (it didn't) but that was calculated after the fact, not prepared in advance, so you should be able to do it with a scheduled box of frozen pizzas.
but no, it doesn't get up to 400 F on the Moon.0 -

Intelligent Space beings would never be seen from the earth until it is too late. Incoming ships would stay on earths "blind side" and amass their forces who would pop out from behind the moon and have their way with earthlings. Who knows 51% might like what "their way" entails and be lined up at the space ship entry doors.Tidal forces from Earth have slowed down the Moon's rotation to the point where the same side is always facing the Earth?a phenomenon called tidal locking. The other face, most of which is never visible from the Earth, is therefore called the "far side of the Moon".
Seriously, any invaders wouldn't need to do anything more than promise free stuff like health care, education and 4 armed loose women and the earth would give up w/o a fight.0 -
The Chinese want to establish a colony on the moon - exactly the same as the US and Russia would. And you can add India to that list, but they're pretty far behind. Why?
There's no better place to view the universe in almost any wavelength than the BACK side of the moon. No radio or light interference from Earth there. It's an astronomer's wet dream to have a telescope there.
The Moon is made of the same chemical stuff as Earth (mainly because it once WAS a part of Earth, we think.) Therefore, it has a lot of mineral wealth.
Lastly, being the first to colonize the Moon would be huge for national pride, just as being the first (and so far only) nation to plant footsteps there was and still is.
The Moon's value as a military base is negligible. If a country wanted to weaponize space, low orbit would be the place to be because your planned attack would have a lot less warning time from orbit than from the moon. Ditto reconnaissance and even communications relay.0 -
H. Beam Piper had different thoughts on the military value of the moon as described in operation triple cross both as an elint platform and logistics platform and an interplanetary ballistic missile platform - and a site for hardened systems that are commonly found in orbit on satellites - which will be wiped out by emp's or the orbital equivalent of a shotgun shell...
Low g and near vacuum manufacturing sites and well as mineral resources will be prized assets.

Probably scouting for a new Dollar General location.
Wonder what music they listened to.0 -
the moon can not be reached from earth. 0
