    snakes don't eat heads off things, they swallow them whole. Look to a mammal, likely raccoon. Owls do that but not to minnows.

    Sorry I have seen snakes eat just the heads off of fish.

    Snakes are one of the few things that watch the eyes of their prey. I've seen many small
    fish de-headed by water snakes in my pond.

    I cant believe a snake would catch them all out of a five gallon pail full of water? Im betting on a mink.

    Just funning with you.
    But all kidding aside, when I read "boathouse" {lucky you!!}, I envisioned a boathouse my fishing friend had.....His minnow tank was a 55 gal fish tank with all kinds of air-rators, feeders, lites.
    He did go over board on most things he did!!
