When I go, my directive is to be cremated. Half the ashes to be deposited / buried next to my father. The other half - I'm leaving my kids enough to go in a 2-3 week trip and have them scatter my ashes all over the country. 0 -
I think buried not in a casket but wrapped in some kind of cloth so my body can return to the earth naturally. 0 -
As I will be dead is makes little difference...
As my body is a ruined disfigured shell that no longer functions as intended a care little for what happens to it after I die...
I would prefer for posterity sake and for my family that it not be desecrated - family members have expressed a preference as to where and how my body is disposed of and if that gives them solace so be it.
Since it will most likely be cancer that kills me perhaps cremation would destroy the cancer once and for all - that seems nice.

Funny you should ask. Been talking to folks this past week to make arrangements.
Here in central VA, a simple cremation, including all paperwork with the state, Social Security, etc is $1,300. Complete.
Funeral with everything is about $40,000.
Wife and self will be cremated, ashes spread on my wife's flower beds she has always loved. No funeral, but will get our kids together here at our home.0 -
My wife and I both decided on cremation. Our services are already paid for and we will reside in the Columbarium Wall at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. 0 -
I'm going in the ground in the National Cemetery at Saratoga...they have a wall for cremations. Hell they can move the wall and put in a parking lot...then again they could pave over me

Cremated, there is no use spending all that money put something in the ground. The reason why I say something, it won't be me. It will be just my body. The part of me that matters will have already vacated it
But the sad part is cremation is no longer as cheap as it used to be, but it's certainly not as expensive as a casket and a vault and everything else that goes along with being buried
If it were legal, I would just have them threw me in a dumpster and save all the money that it takes to get rid of a body0 -

Cremation via Viking boat pyre or fall asleep with a cigar in bed pyre. Second might be hard to do living in a Vegas hotel/Motel in my twilight days like Howard Hughes. 0 -
Timely thread because in yesterday's mail I received my "pre-need" eligibility verification for burial in a National Cemetery. My plan, assuming they are still accepting at the time, is to be buried in the Barrancus National Cemetery located on NAS Pensacola. 0 -

My directions are to recycle any parts anyone else can use, burn what's left over, if any. I looked into donating my entire body to "science" or a med school but the programs I found are rather particular and wouldn't likely want me. 0 -

Growing up as a old teenager/young adult, I had a best friend whose family owned a funeral parlor.
There were a few times me and him had to take unclaimed cans of ashes to be disposed
of. After 7 years of storage.
We respectfully buried them into the Atlantic Ocean from a small boat.
As most were of Catholic faith, we did not spread them, just sunk them into deep water.0 -
We have a pact at the range to load our ashes in both shot shells, and pistol cartridges, and send them down range.
The remainder of my ashes will be interred in a National Cemetery.0 -
Cremation for me and my wife. Our ashes will be buried in our old family plot in a cemetery in Knoxville, TN where my great great grandfather bought a large section of the cemetery for our family back in the 1800s. There are still 8 grave sites left. 0 -

Wife unit and myself both want cremated, and spread in ?nature?. Both of our parents had lake cabins up nort, in northern Minnesota. Me from Iowa, her from Minneapolis. Same lake, at a narrow spot in the lake, our parents summer getaways were right across from each other. 0 -

I am looking to go out the least expensive way possible, for those that have to tend to my final arrangements. Do not wish/want, any kind of Service. (Maybe gather a few friends and play Kansas "Dust in the Wind.")
(And) I have no desire to be buried.

Hell don't do that!!! unclaimed bodies are a PITA!!!
Being they violate you in every possible way while prepping you for burial I might as well be burnt instead. The thought of being stuffed in a box just to be dug up for multi-unit government housing someday is even less appealing. Ashes it is....0 -

First cremation at a local funeral home with minimum fuss.
Pre need forms already completed and approved for internment in a National Cemetery for wife and myself.
Location preferred at near Sturgis SD where the Harleys roll by every August for the Annual Motorcycle Rally.0 -
I'll be buried with my behind sticking out of the ground........................so, if the kids come to see me they will have somewhere to park their bicycle! 0
