    I must confess I have never seen that rear sight before - I have about a dozen various sets of iron sights for my 52 and that's a new one one me...

    It's also been awhile since I saw tinted rose colored front sight aperture inserts on a target rifle - I have rose and orange and yellow sets for one of my front sights but you simply don't see them anymore - not even in online references or in books...

    And I also have never seen that particular variant of scope - though mine has unertl base blocks and they are fairly common on 52's...

    Mine sports a 20 power unertl with fairly elaborate internal and external adjustment measures and it's probably one of the largest and heaviest - powerful pieces of glass you could obtain and mount without becoming ridiculous...

    It's an interesting gun with interesting options - a nice and uncommon configuration.

    Ricci, that one was made in 1948. First year they got them back into production after the war. That's a nice one, and the Vaver sights are a plus.

    I strongly suspect that when I stopped competing / had aged out of / as a junior shooter in sanctioned smallbore rifle matches prior to turning 21 I was the last and only person still fielding a Winchester model 52 (I graduated high school in 1990)

    I don't ever recall seeing one at nationals at camp Perry or regionals at blue trail range in wallingford CT or the Olympic training center in Colorado Springs...

    I think that the 3 years I made the president's 100 the competition was almost all anshutz or feinwerkbau - and there were a few Russian manufactured pieces that showed up in international match shoots - the team from Bangladesh had some TOZ and Tula rifles...

    In 100 yard prone matches when I first started there was the occasional vickers empire or jubilee grade falling block rifles still used in international shoots and I think once a Parker Hale rifle...

    Remington 541 or 40X had also pretty much disappeared except at the state level or in 50 foot indoor postal matches in the boonies and ready small rural towns.

    Damned if I can remember but there was a French match rifle that popped up sometimes.

    Is your gun a pre-canjar trigger - no external adjustments???

    My gun also had 3 palm rests which had mostly fallen out of favor at that point.

    Many 52's lost the steel buttplate and upgraded to hooks with vertical adjustments from freeland and many had inset rails installed that ran from trigger guard to fore end also from freeland...

    Bipods and fore end blocks and free weights and cheekpieces also got modified - thumb hole stocks appeared occasionally - sights were the most often upgraded item...

    Such a variety of factory options and configurations plus decades of after market items meant many unique set ups...

    Mine preffered CCI Green Tag and a PMC target ammo that was not around long (the bullet lubricant turned into a runny viscous syrup at 100?F and made a mess of things...

    Government issue white box generic Winchester also did well except for a propensity for one round out of 50 to drop out of the groupings slightly - enough to lose a point or two...

    Eley did okay but the Green Tag did better though I would use Eley club or match (red or orange or black lid) in a pinch or in practice along with R50 from RWS

    Well appointed guns always worth the investment and never dissapointing...
