Copperheads out today
Just finished shooting 9 copperhead snakes by a under road curvet pipe.
We have 6" riprock around the ends of the pipe and there must have a nest on one end.
They were coming up in between the rocks.
Nice and warm and sunny here, must have brought them out.
Most of the snakes were 12" to 20" long and only about 3/4" thick.
A few were fatter.
20 gauge pump == cylinder choke ==with 7 1/2 light loads==range 7' to 20'.
Wish I had 1 radish to make a salad with the meat.

We have in our lake, a "pet" snake. It too looks like a copperhead but with less distinct
banding. The giveaway is the head is smaller than the body.
In North America, All poisonous snakes {save one} are Pit vipers and have a triangle head.
The Jaws are wider than the body, and have two pits or sensors between the eyes and nostrils.

corn snake You get 'em all coiled up, they look just like a copperhead. I almost killed one, one time, he was side by side with a copperhead under the lid of my propane tank. Couldn't tell the difference, except for the head.0
