I seem to recall someone's pet project that altered a 7X57mm Spanish Mauser bolt action short rifle into a .45 Winchester magnum bolt action carbine.

I believe that the plan was to convert the action to accept the proper detachable magazines.

Something with similarities to the Spanish destroyer carbine on steroids and the delisse carbine without the integral silencer.

As I am an ardent fan of pistol caliber carbine platforms I find the concept fascinating.

I have fired the automag II in .22 win mag and in .30 carbine - I think that they and the LAR Grizzly were offered in .45 win mag but I never had the opportunity to test out either gun.

Also I envision a rolling block carbine chambered to accept the .45 win mag cartridge...

I have an AMT Automag IV in 45 Win Mag.
Recoil is not as bad as 44 Mag, fun to shoot , does a great job on pumpkins & watermelon.

I have both the Widley in .45 Win Mag w/10" barrel and the AMT IV in .45 Win Mag.

    Both are fun to shoot.

I had a LAR Grizzly in .45 Win Mag years ago (late 1980s?). Fun to shoot but it wasn't very reliable. It would feed my reloads but not factory ammo and it bent up the brass pretty bad. Even after a trip back to factory for warranty (UPS just dropped it off at my front door) it wasn't 100% so I eventually sold it.
