CVS Pharmacy rip off
Wife uses these diabetic test strips available from Amazon:

As you can see, 4 boxes w/shipping is $146.02 from Amazon.
The insurance carrier had them shipped from CVS Pharmacy..the cost for 4 boxes is about $569.60...insurance paid 100%
Anyone see a problem here and why health insurance costs are so expensive?

not sure how many years ago maybe 6 ? the company I worked for insurance company declared CVS was who we should use . we could continue with who we had but have too pay more to do so . so over night the CVS in our town gained countless more customers .
I would bet a wonderful kick back or cost drop to the insurance company from CVS took place at that time about 5K people worked at the company I was at 1200 or so at the local plant
free market and the American way I guess get all you can when you can
I feel for diabetics or for that matter all of us taking prescription drugs .. narcan is passed out like candy no cost no limit no questions ask to save the POS druggies of our society to get high again tomorrow , but screw the rest of us needing meds0 -
Exactly. The druggies keep getting revived on the taxpayer dole. I hear people say that if we didn't fund the narcan that those poor people would die. I say, oh well...Ditch-Runner wrote:

But - I've never had a need, or a loved one have a need for narcan, so I'm not vested in it...0 -
BTW - Target pharmacies are CVS pharmacies in disguise...
They manage several other larger pharmacy outlets under similar nom de plumes or false flag front companies...

CVS Caremark is no different from any of the other major players in the drug industry. Everyone involved makes huge amounts of money, except for the final user, who generally gets to pay inflated prices for drugs available all over the world for less than we pay.
Not to mention the billions earned pushing opioids.

Wal-mart does it even worse,,my test stips at walmart,,off of the shelf is 50 for $14.00. Using insurance ,,My copay is 12.00 a box and they charge insurance 12.00.. MANY of my monthly maintenance meds was less expensive to buy them out of pocket direct than to use insurance,,co-pay was higher than direct price... so this year I switched to the insurance direct CVS ,,they send it to me 3 months at the time for zero co-pay.. 0 -
I ran out my allergy pills, I asked the druggist I've used for thirty years if he could help me out and get me through the weekend. He sold me a pack of fifty for less than my co-pay usually is. He said exactly the same ingredients but labeled for a different use and over the counter. 0
