Go Tiger Go
After high school was done for the day in Glen Allen, Va. my three best friends and I went to Laurel to play golf. Sometimes we played for a dime a hole. We carried doubles on week ends to earn green fees so we could play. Sometimes we worked the concession stand on the back nine and snuck in the lake at night to grab golf balls with our toes to clean up and sell to golfers on the week end. Sometimes we even snuck thru hole in fence and played if we had no money for green fees.
While I was in the Army around Cuban Missle time got a call that my three best friends were killed in auto accident. On their way to play and listen to country music. Ran thru stop sign and hit a dump truck broadside. As I understand it the driver ended up as a vegetable for the rest of his life. I think of my friends often but have never picked up another golf club.
I love to watch the Tiger play, so good luck and Go Tiger Go!

I'll need to set my alarm but I'll be up at 9:20 to watch. 0 -
Dr. Anthony Galea must have gotten out of jail and making house calls again. It must have been tough on old Tiger trying to play on a level playing field for the past few years.

Raymond- sounds like you and your friends were playing the Laurel course. Ever go down to Roy's Big Burger next to Bryan Park? 0 -
Yep was the Laurel course. Can't remember Roy's Big Burger. Live in Upstate NY and also have house in Kents Store, Fluvanna County. Went back to see house i lived in early 60's on Thacker Lane. Graduated from Hermitage High in 1961. Place has changed so much.11b6r wrote:Raymond- sounds like you and your friends were playing the Laurel course. Way to go Tiger. Tough to play when a Tiger is breathing down your neck. Amazing! 0 -

Like not trying to kill him with a golf club??? 0 -
I think when Molinari hit one in the drink it was an omen. Besides winning the Masters, what Tiger has overcame is amazing. In the end when all the strokes were counted he believed in himself.
Some of the leaders were caddies and youngsters when Tiger was getting started. He was a picture of concentration. Like many of the leaders said, "he is good." I am sure they will never forget that they were there to challenge the Master and they like Tiger became a part of history.0
