    I'm sure it will work for what you mentioned you wanted it for. I'm also sure it going to surprise with other things it finds as well.

    have fun you may get hooked . once you find the items you lost especially if you know the general area they were lost
    finding areas not searched to death will be a challenge at least they were for us we relied on haveing the latest to help find items missed by previous searching .

    my 1st one was a self built one I built when I was in 9th grade from a parts kit do not recall the name heath kit or since fair or some such kits for beginners ) but my electronics teacher I found had was one of his hobbies and took more interest then I did . next up maybe 10 years later I found a Relco with two search coils at a swap meet for like 25 dollars ( not really sure of the price but I know it could not have been very much because I did not much too spend ) it worked ok but it was like buying a FIE pistol to make due until moving on to a colt ;)
    skip ahead about another 15 years my BIL and I both bought a "top" of the line models at that time 1990-3 time frame him a garrets and I bought a whites . lots of exercise and time out doors was a bonus
