I received your package today. Thank you very much. If there is anything i could to help you out please feel free to ask. I have plenty of tools or flap disk i could send you. Just let me know.

If you want i could send you some money. I saw how much shipping was plus the items were not cheap i am sure. It's all good Dave, no worries.

Now i have some questions. LOL

What was the dark wood panels you sent me? The spalted hackberry will not be used until i figure out what i am doing. I would hate to mess that up it is too nice. Those scales are figured Walnut.

I am wondering what wood i could pick up at Lowes to make scales for? I want to save yours until i have a better skill set. I'm not sure what Lowes will carry, but you should stick to hardwoods. If you can mark it with your thumbnail, it's too soft to hold up as a working knife handle without stabilizing. I have included a pic of a chunk of maple burl from the bay of E, that I got for 20 bucks.

Now some blade questions if you do not mind. Did you make the knife blanks or did you buy them? Also where do you buy your knife supplies and what companies do you recomend? Yes, I made those from 1095 high carbon stock that I purchased from Jantz. I have included some links below.

Also unless i am mistaking the blades need to be heat treated after grinding right. Correct. You will want to finish them up to the point of putting the edge on, prior to hardening(including hand sanding to 400 grit). Never put the cutting edge on a soft blade.

My last ? is what are the pins that screw together called? Those are called Corby rivets. Most suppliers carry them, although they are in high demand, and out of stock quite often. You will love them once you learn the process of roughing scales. Jantz sells a countersink tool for them, but you can use two drill bits to do the same job.

Thank you for the materials again and if there is anything i can do to help you please let me know. I appreciate the things you gave me to help me out.

    Thanks again, David
    You are welcome Dave, enjoy!

I was wondering if you would be interested in making me a knife?

From looking at the knife blanks you sent i know you do pretty work. Both knife blanks look identical except for the cuts you made on one.

    Let me know David.

I wish my Dad was still here i would have loved to give him one for Christmas. He loved some knives.
