Ransom paid by someone to African thugs
No amount of money matters to get a loved one back safely for sure, however I can't help wishing that the rescuers would have destroyed the kidnappers after securing their freedom.
Hate to see them get away with that sheet, Uganda, I will never be kidnapped in Uganda unless they drag me there first!

Only NOT PAYING will help / reduce kidnapping hostages for ransom in the future. In some countries I'm familiar with paying ransom WAS a cottage industry and very lucrative. Who got kidnapped, CITIZENS of the COUNTY, rich citizens. Think it's a form of appeasement that for sure does NOT do anything to reduce the problem.

Well the Russian spetznaz did come down pretty hard on the Muslim terrorists and black widow bombers in some of the former Soviet break away republics...
Sources say that they bagged some big players and leaders and not only tortured and executed them but shaved off all the body hair on the corpses and castrated the bodies before sewing them up in pig skin shrouds...
It's a bit heavy handed and sounds like vlaad teppes was back and administering biblical justice but may have been somewhat effective...
In comparison our side was much less harsh in dealing with bin laudin.
Obama paying ransom and treating with terrorists harmed this country and the international community at large irreparably - you don't bargain with or reward terrorists.
You can almost certainly bank on the fact that for every person ransomed or granted freedom in that deal at least a dozen Americans or Israel's died - directly paid for with the money sent to Iran.

The only way to deal with thugs and terrorists is with the iron fist. Paying off only encourages bad folk to go for more...
Same goes for killers and rapists. They should be punished harshly with death or castration to prevent future problems. Liberal policies have failed with ongoing problems and overcrowed prisons.0 -

That is a very lawless area. The Kidnapers were probably Rwandan or Congolese and operate out of the Kivu area of DR Congo. I really haven't been following the story but these guys are probably trying to get money to buy guns and the driver might have been in on it.
That whole area is a chithole and should be nuked from orbit.
BTW ChrisS when I was working in that area I had a Galil and a Uzi along with several BHP's in my vehicle But then when the locals see a car full of Muzinga's they know there is some bad voodoo coming their way.0 -
