I know that at age 64 that I am not part of the demographic that modern country music radio is chasing. That being said it is sad what the awards show is trying to pass off these days as country music . There are some good singers out there they just don?t get much air play . Heck many of these folks I have never heard of before. Chime in , who do you like these days?

    I'm not much into Country Music, but I find it offensive that they are putting Rap, Rock and sole into it and calling it Country!

    You are correct but it's not simply about crossover or mixing and meeting of genres or natural musical or linguistic drift or a patois that has developed locally or regionally over time as cultures and styles sample each other...

    The ACM or country music award show is deliberately forcing the lib prog dem fem all left agenda down our throats like we have grown used to with the DNC propaganda media consortiums...

    They are purposely turning their backs on traditions and history and indoctrinating us with so called minority and disenfranchised ethnic narratives...

    The showtime at the Apollo theatre and the BET awards or ACE awards do not reciprocate in such inclusiveness - they are proactive in protecting the purity of their mission and message.

    What you are seeing has two components - one being seem as PC and discarding of white privilege - the other is financially motivated.

    The country music dynamic and demographic was shrinking or at least not growing and the elite artists and management / record label top echelon wanted to gain immediate access to what they perceived to be a larger source of income and a larger fan base...

    What in fact has happened is they have completely alienated the older generations of fans and have failed to gain much traction against the newer younger members of the loyal country music families and communities

    In a rush to seem culturally PC and cutting edge that have abandoned their fan base and iconic forums like the grand ole opera and the Nashville club scene

    Instead of the success of Austin city limits they have stagnated and offended the fans and communities that bought their records and drew advertisers to their stations and populated their formats

    In a rush to be PC and gain market share they have in fact committed suicide.

    Their will be niche venues and markets and internet forums that continue to maintain respect and stewardship of the classic country music forms but also foster and advance new artists

    But television and radio are now effectively abandoned dead ends.

    Where something like 90%+ of hip hip or rap music buyers and listeners and concert attendees are from the Caucasian middle class the communities of color and urban decay simply turn a day as ear to and turn out an empty pocket towards country.

    Much similarity to the death of NASCAR.

    I listen to country music sometimes but it's always on Willie's Road House on Sirius radio. No new crap there.

    And let's face it Garth Brooks is a raving lunatic - on the verge of going postal...

    His attempts to have a heavy on line presence and YouTube channel would be funny if his behavior was not so abhorrent and bizarre or forced...

    And his whole alter ego - split personalty Chris Gaines nom de plume act is also a bit disturbing.

    Don't get me wrong he is a talented juggernaut - I am not a fan but there is no argument against his popularity and power to draw tickets and fill giant arenas.

    I just think he is a head injury away from being Hannibal lector or and evil Bond film villain.

    He appears quite detached from reality and heavily managed by his support team.

    Not one for self serving celeb award shows. Country certainly has taken the path of other santimonious back slapping PC circus's. Johnny Cash and the other legends of country music are long gone. Whats left has little resemblence of the grand old opry style perfomers.

    Hank Williams Sr. would be suprised at the evolution of ACM and the country music scene at large.

    It might help if I actually turned on the TV but since I don't do that very often I did not know it was on. And I do not care one wit about any of the new crop of weirdos, nutcases and Marxists playing rap with a twang they call country music.

    Merle, George, Marty, Johnny, Don, Moe, Joe and many others sorely missed. We are fortunate to have a station that plays oldies.

    Speaking of sequins. Back in the day that was a good business. I used to work in the sequin mines just outside Nashville back in the early 60s. Those purple ones brought the most cash but they were hard digging.

    Frankly, there is very little worth listening to anymore as most of the so-called music is nothing but noise.
