Anyone Own a Semi-Auto AR-15 style Shotgun?
Tri-Star, MMC, etc.
Magazine fed, etc. Similarly styled to an AR-15?

with the availibility of extended magazine tubes and the short shotshells nowadays, i fail to see theneed for a ar platform for shotguns. put an extended mag tube on a rem 1100, add a 22 inch improved cylinder non rifled slug barrel, and a SURE CYCLE stainless steel main action spring and you have a true hell fire and brimstone killing machine that is better balanced, faster cycling with less recoil suitable for targets to 100 yards[slugs] 0 -
I own/collect Military (and non-Military) 12 ga. Riot Pumps. I have a few to choose from. (From the 1897 model to modern Benelli's.)
Simply looking (perhaps) to add an oddball to the collection.

I have one which is branded as Panzer Twelve and is one of several minor variations of what is essentially the same gun imported from Turkey. It is chambered for 2-3/4 and 3" shells and works fine with both, if you shoot at least 1oz, 3-/14 dram loads. Light skeet loads don't function well...the more powerful the loading the better it likes it! Two 5 round magazines are standard while 10 round mags are available for purchase separately, although they are sometimes hard to find. IMO the ten round mag is too heavy and makes the gun awkward. An eight round magazine would have been ideal! In the world market the shotgun comes with a collapsible stock, but those aren't available in this country or from any source I could find outside of Turkey, who are forbidden by law (similar to our own) from exporting certain firearms components. On my next trip to to Turkey, getting a retractable stock is on my list of things to do. You'll see these guns with a variety of muzzle devices, but the reality is that they are simply slip-over shrouds to mask the length of the barrel. Since the gun is gas operated, it is a mess to clean; not as bad as my old Franchi SPAS, but expect to spend some time at the cleaning bench after shooting. 
IF you look, you can see that so far as size is concerned the Panzer compares well with my Mossberg 500 MILS and is not all that much longer than my Benelli Entry (the Mossberg Shockwave is shown because it was already in the photo).
The Panzer is a fun gun to shoot, but (IMO) it lacks the practicality of a conventional shotgun.0 -

My experience with AR style 12 gauges is nil. Shot a number of semi-autos and pumps, without disconnecters over the years. Trying to control a 12 gauge, for very rapid, ACCURATE fire. Is a pipe dream, IMHO. Unless your inside a phone booth.
Years back I got involved in a pissing contest. With a gunshop commando, on the GD forum. Who was bragging how good he was, with a S & W 357, that weighed all of 12 ounces,(in rapid fire). I told him as nice as I could, he was full of you know what. For some reason he got his panties knotted. Because of my comment. Far as I'm concerned trying to control 12 gauge, using rapid fire. Is about as useless, as bozo's 12 ounce .357.
Just happened to think. Phone booths, like buggy whips, are a thing of the past. The younger folks don't have a clue, what a phone booth is. Guess I will have to find, another analogy.0 -
If I wanted a box magazine fed shotgun, I'd look at the new version of the Mossy 590 and the Saiga AK types 0 -

If you arent shooting 3 gun- I dont know what advantage it really has over an long tube standard semi-auto.
The AR style shotguns are what the big dogs run in 3 gun but you can be a pretty damn fast regular Joe with a standard semi auto. Its the mandatory reloads that drive an advantage for the AR type shotguns.

Makaila has been looking at what externally has the profile and architecture of an AR carbine but fires .410 gauge shot shells from AR style magazines
There is a 28 gauge version but it does not seem to have much traction amongst buyers and there is not much variation of combat or defense loads from ammo manufacturers
They do make a drum magazine but as noted above it ads tremendous weight and mobility issues for many shooters
I think the 10 and 12 and 15 round mags seem the most popular - they have had a big advertising presence in the firearms news publications
With the .410 version there is tons of ammo manufacturers support since the judge style revolvers and carbines have hit the market
Tristar has a semiautomatic 12 gauge with 3 tube magazines and a bullpup style stock and kel tech has a plethora of similar designs - all of which are designed to take mini shells and full length hulls - and there are now half a dozen companies offering their version of the aguila mini shells
I think the next key step is offering one that will accept existing and popular AR parts and mods so there is an existing after market support system in place
And yes there is a ton of muzzle break style - door breached or skull crusher or recoil reducing attachments to select from that are simply a way to make shorter barrels legal by adding length - but nobody will use the word flash suppressor as I think it causes legal and legislative issues in many states
I still like the pancor jackhammer design where the drum magazines were also designed to function as stand alone antipersonel mines - it's a beer looking gun and has some advanced and oddball design features
I also am still a fan of the original spas shotgun with the shepherds crook folding stock that would operate as a or semiautomatic with the flip of a switch
And the Russian kalishnakov style combat shotguns have some nice platforms to choose from

I bought a SDS Lynx12 shotgun last year. This thing feeds / fires everything I put through it. Including Cheap Walmart bulk pack 7.5 target loads, buck, and slugs. Gunbroker has the best prices on these guns and mags. 0 -

While I generally agree with this, I have always been somewhat intrigued by the AR styled 12 Ga configured guns.0 -

I own a Winchester 1300 defender, black synthetic furniture. 500 Lumen barrel mounted light. Stock band with 12 reloads of the Aguilla Mini-shells. Holds about 9 in the tube. (?) [I forget] This was the first model pump, that reliably cycled the Mini-shells. I own about 500 mini-shells. (50/50 mix of Buck and slugs.).
I alternate loads in my 1300. Buck, Slug. Buck, Slug.0 -
No experience at all with the Tri-Star brand, but I do have a semi-auto .410 shotgun on the AR15 platform.
I purchased the upper new, on GunBroker.
It was made in Turkey by a company called Safir Arms.
When I first received the upper, it would not run more than 3 consecutive rounds without stove-pipng.
I spent nearly two YEARS trying to get Safir to make this upper right, or refund my money, but to no avail.
I even filed a complaint with the B.B.B. about this upper.
Disgusted, I put it in the safe and forgot about it, until one day it came up in conversation and a friend (gunsmith) said he'd give it a once over.
It took him 10 minutes with a Dremmel to take a bit from the under side of the extractor and now it runs like a raped ape.
I still have that memory of it jamming on every other round, so I don't know if I can ever really "trust" it, but I'll keep it.
Wouldn't want to dump a piece of junk on someone else.
The moral of this story?
Don't buy from Safir Arms...0
