Any volunteers? Seeking feedback
There is alot to be said with regard to manufacturing your own AR15 lower.
The problem I see is most good jigs are $150 or more- so if a guy just wants to build one, there?s actually no upside to it from a price perspective.
Im thinking about designing a disposable jig- intended for one time use- that would mate to an 80% lower and allow someone to complete the lower then just toss the jig.
Done right this might lower the cost to around $20-$30 instead of $150.
To me the most inherent problem is the skills of those who would he using the jig would vary- so it must be strongly mistake proof.
If I design and build a few would anyone be interested in trying to make a lower and give me feedback on what to adjust fix to improve producability?

First let me say, I've never done a 80% AR build.
But I have made and sold jigs and machining aids for race engine parts.
Your idea while good , may not be able to compete with others now on the market. To be user friendly and ACCURATE, your jig would most likely cost more than your selling point of $30.

I have assembled a few ar's and other firearms from parts and have done my share of fitting parts ,but having never done an ar 80% rec. what tools/ machinery are usually required?
If I have or can obtain the use of proper machinery I would be in.0 -
I saw one kit that requires no jig and no machining. It has a mold, some metal inserts, and polymer to make a polymer lower.

You have to buy the kit to make at least five, but you don't need a jig.0 -
I have seen the jigs at gunshows and flea markets. Cost usually less than a good lower. All that is required other than the 80% lower is a decent drill press, a couple of mill bits, and an 8-32 drill bit. I have never built one, but anyone with basic mechanical skills and tools should be able to complete one. 0 -
I personally enjoyed building a few Ar's but I only built one upper. So many configurations you can buy it just wasn't worth it to me. Also while doing it to be able to say I did it is cool, doing it to have a gun without serial number doesn't really interest me. 0 -

The polymer80 comes with a polymer lower, jig, bits for like $50-60 dollars retail...and if you screw up the lower they will send you another for free. We carry them in our store. 0
