Which do you like
Not complaining, just observing.....Question: Which type thread do you like better on GBGD, truck driving or cooking threads ?.... I think I'd pick, truck driving

Cooking, especially when photos of the finished meals are included (this should be mandatory). Based on what I've seen, our members eat quite well. 0 -

Quite true, they definitely are gifted
but they make me hungry, I can't cook water and my wife is little better at it than me.......
Gear jamming and repair work I can relate too

Observational posts that - while shallow and pedantic - from all appearances mask themselves as polite mockery of the typical general discussion thread content from nom de plume "members" with "start over" post counts whose probationary status and lack of merit are about as valuable as a fart in the wind...
May provide some weak comic relief but are "liked" only by some of our most veteran members who have popcorn at the ready - who wish to be IBTL...
Like Saturday night live or the Rachel maddow show - funny to sheep but ignored or avoided like what the sheep deposit in the street.

Sorry if I wet your cornflakes, no intent on insulting anyone, I'm not like that
anyway, should I ask you to proof read a post or get your permission to post from now on before doing so :?:0 -
You asked - I answered in kind...
No ruffled feathers here - I certainly hope your feelings were not hurt or ego bruised.
And please post what you will - I don't make the rules here nor is my permission required for anyone's thread content.
:P
See I even added a humorous emoji to add levity and be politically correct.

My observation is more and larger emoji's would greatly improve the user experience on GBGD discussion threads.

Mom taught me to never pick at threads. Or the whole thing can unravel. It applies to more than sweaters. 0 -
I prefer the cooking while truck driving posts 0 -
I feel that if this is/was a slamming post against anyone on the forum the 2nd poster to my thread (Mr. Mark Christian, forum Administrator) would have zapped me good...yet he gave an honest and agreeable reply to which I replied back to
. Some people just got to..........................
, as Forrest Gump would say "that's all I got to say about that".
. Again, I can't cook and can't relate to it...but am and always have been have been a mechanically minded person, hope that's not insulting to anyone.0 -

Don't worry about your thread, it was fine. I' would be quick to tell you if there issues.
Simply put: not everyone drives a truck, but everyone eats.0 -
Our local Scwann's delivery guy has crockpot plugged into an inverter in his truck-he cooks while driving said truck. Of course he he did burn up a truck a few months ago, I am unsure how his dinner faired. 0 -
+1 Agree. These are may favorites. And next are the +1 reply posts that add no additional content.mrmike08075 wrote:Observational posts that - while shallow and pedantic - from all appearances mask themselves as polite mockery of the typical general discussion thread content from nom de plume "members" with "start over" post counts whose probationary status and lack of merit are about as valuable as a fart in the wind...

I rely totally of photosynthesis and beer to meet all of my nutritional requirements...
A downside to being Irish means I don't tan when exposed to sunlight I burst into flames - but on the plus side I don't worry about sickle cell anemia...
I save my empty Guinness cans up and when sober take them to the range in my truck and use the empties as targets - I recycle
I have many guns that are good for shooting cans.
I like general discussions - who is your favorite general - let's generally discuss generals - let's have a thread about Betsy Ross whom is supposed to have knit a flag for a general...
What general thread type is used to make epaulets for generals - certainly not generic...
How about musicals - the one with the gent that is the very model of a modern major general...
Is this thread topical or typical or tropical...

Cooking.
I do think the truckers have cool pics and stories but everyone can contribute something when it comes to cooking. Only a handful here are truck drivers.0 -
I think you can set a pizza on the red part. GreatGuns wrote:lkannes wrote:Our local Scwann's delivery guy has crockpot plugged into an inverter in his truck-he cooks while driving said truck. Of course he he did burn up a truck a few months ago, I am unsure how his dinner faired.
Oh no! That's almost funny, unless of course you're Schwans.
Guess I'll have to figure out how to do a highway cooking box in this engine compartment for picnics.

I'm not nor have ever been a truck driver but lets also remember without them no food would be on our tables or in our pantries for the cooks to do their thing. Maybe it's a cycle thing, there use to be a fair amount of trucking post (think BSR and Allen) that kept many entertained on here now apparently it's cycled over to cooking which also is entertaining to many.......as I stated before it's my observation and my preference was given and yes...the wife and I do like fine prepared food and eat out a lot, just stating I can burn a winnie along with the best of'em

I like Ike...
Tippecanoe and Tyler too...
54/40 or fight...
A date which will live in infamy...
For heathen heart that puts her trust in reeking tube and iron shard...
Etc...

I prefer GUN threads and garage sale finds, closing ahead of women threads with pics. 0 -
I don?t have a chain wallet or pointy toe boots, so i guess it?s cooking threads. 0 -
Edgar Allan Poe's use of onomatopoeia - sound devices - tonal technique and alliteration in poetry and verse / figurative language and the predominant antagonist in musical adaptations and song like "come rest in this bosom" or "Annabelle Lee"
Walt Whitman's leaves of grass or Rudyard Kipling's the sapper
And some Robert Frost for good measure
Or maybe West bound and down by Jerry Lee for you heathens and common folk.
Or take me home, country roads...
