Slippery slope prediction 58 years ago
When the legislation that would become Medicare was introduced in 1961, Ronald Reagan created a recording for the American Medical Association (AMA) warning that such legislation would mean the end of freedom in America. He said that if his listeners did not write letters to prevent it, "we will awake to find that we have socialism. And if you don't do this, and if I don't do it, one of these days, you and I are going to spend our sunset years telling our children, and our children's children, what it once was like in America when men were free."

Medicare is insurance for people of retirement age. Premiums are paid for by retirees / government and administered by private care facilities. The Medicare payments are paid for,, 40 years? by everyone and you still pay premiums while on Medicare. Think the Medicare premiums are around $120 per month.
PS: Paid medicare premiums for 35 years. Those payments DID NOT buy me any insurance, they paid for those who were retired and paid for THEIR health care.
Obama care was for everyone.
The Affordable Care Act (ACA or ?Obamacare?) was signed into law by President Barack Obama in 2010. A major overhaul of the U.S. health-care system, Obamacare aims to reduce the amount of uncompensated care the average U.S. family pays for by requiring everyone to have health insurance or pay a tax penalty.
Obamacare didn't have anything to do with Medicare.0
