Well the folks in Chitcago voted in another mayor. The new mayor is bl*ck, gay and a female. She is inheriting some major problems from the little dancer: Unfunded pensions, crooked DA's, murder capital, police at war with the DA over jessy.

I don't see how anyone would want the job but I guess there were 19 people running and she beat them all.

Like I said she has a tough row to hoe.............

Former federal prosecutor Lori Lightfoot has defeated a longtime political insider to become Chicago's next mayor - the first black woman and openly gay person to lead the nation's third-largest city.

Lightfoot, a 56-year-old practicing lawyer who has never before held elected office, was elected Chicago's mayor in a lopsided victory on Tuesday night.

She easily defeated Toni Preckwinkle, who served in the City Council for 19 years before becoming Cook County Board president. Preckwinkle also is chairwoman of the county Democratic Party.

Lightfoot promised to rid City Hall of corruption and help low-income and working-class people she said had been 'left behind and ignored' by Chicago's political ruling class.

    ...definitely looks like she's "leading the charge". Those in the background aren't much better. My vote is for this one making Rahm E. look like Ronald Reagan before this is all said and done.

    Black, gay and female.. had she lost, it would have been straight white males faults...

    no matter what happens in that city, it won't be her fault. She can do NO wrong.

    Yep - business as usual. Except in the past, we could criticize Rahm. He was only black and liberal. She's black, gay, female and liberal. So - she can do no wrong. Anything that goes wrong in Chicago will be the fault of the conservative plot against her.
