advice ,,removing factory accent decals between doors
I have a 2001 Dodge quad cab I bought rand new in 2000.. I hardly ever drive it anymore,,maybe to the dump about every 6 weeks,,,anyway I looked and I had put 7000 miles on it in the last 3 years..It just wasting in the yard so I decided to sell it. Its in great shape other than the black sticker they put between the doors has flaked about 1/2 way off on both sides,,I tried carwash pressure spray,,goof off and a few more but just remove them..any ideas

They make a special paint for that. I even seen it at a Walmart. 0 -

I have personally never used one but I know they make a special type like buffing pad to remove decals I think it generates heat to allow it to remove as its pushed against the decal with out harming the paint I am sure a local parts shop ( dealing with auto paint ) will have them or on line
I have used heat guns/ hair dryers to get decals warm to peal off just do not cook the paint
also if me I would visit you tube I will bet many post on how to to get the decals off with harming the paint
goof off does work wonders and may still be part of the process I have used wd40 also top remove old glue adhesive from left over decals0 -
Check out ebay for Dodge truck black pillar post exterior moldings. It's plastic that you stick on over the old stuff. 0 -

Yep, it's like a big round eraser you use with a die grinder or even a drill.

Those work great, but they wear down fast. Be prepared to buy a second one. Also, use light pressure. Friction heat can damage the paint underneath.
A hair drier and stiff plastic spatula works too. Heat it just enough to soften the adhesive and scrape with the spatula. Takes longer and leaves some adhesive behind, but that can be scrubbed off with a little heat, some WD40 and a course rag or burlap.0 -
Warm it up with a heat gun to where the glue melts and you can pull it right off. If you're going to leave it off ( not replace it with new decals). Then you need to remove the remaining glue with something like citrol 266, but Goo Gone or lighter fluid will work but not as good
If you want to remove it mechanically instead of heating it up get a 3M eraser wheel, I'll post a link to where you can buy one for about $10. All you have to do is put it in a drill and rub it over the top of the decal. Easy peasy

Whatever you do do not scrape it off. You'll scratch the paint underneath it oh, and even if you do replace the decal water will get in it and rusted out0
