Probably the wrong forum, but which is better for colder air temps. faster burning powders or slower?

    Are you talking for storage or shooting performance? Black powder or smokeless?

    The article alludes to the development of powders that are less sensitive to temperature changes

    The military had IMR 8208XBR developed to replace IMR 4895 as their long range sniper powder for this reason

    We all hate to change what we know but these new powders keep the POA more consistent and the 8208XBR does that for me over 4895 noticeably in my LR rifle

    Sorry, shooting ( rifle mid range and bigger caliber handgun ) with smokeless powders.
