Introduction of Bill:
To address the fundamental injustice, cruelty, brutality, and inhumanity of slavery in the United States and the 13 American colonies between 1619 and 1865 and to establish a commission to study and consider a national apology and proposal for reparations for the institution of slavery, its subsequent de jure and de facto racial and economic discrimination against African-Americans, and the impact of these forces on living African-Americans, to make recommendations to the Congress on appropriate remedies, and for other purposes.

It is very simple.
Arrive at a dollar value for each direct descendant of slaves who applies and can prove bloodline to specific slave.
I would suggest 1 year's wages at $ 15.00 per hour less FICA, which would be apprx. $ 25,500.00.
Verify specific lineage, reduce dollar value proportionately for each non-slave bloodline introduced into ancestry.
Deduct any and all monies received from local, state, and federal government including in-kind contributions such a subsidized housing, food stamps, received by the family since the beginning of the 'Great Society'.
Send either a check, or as would be done in most cases of those who would ask for money, send them a bill for what has been paid to their family over the years that exceeds the value established in step 1.
Please note that I am not disparaging those the refuse to ask for money. Only those that do not have any pride of person as demonstrated by the fact that they would petition complete strangers for money in payment for something done to a person 5 generations removed.0 -

What amount in dollars is the approx amount of social welfare money and welfare and Medicare and food stamps and section 8 housing and free education spent on African Americans since 1865...
How do you factor in dollars the number of soldiers who died in the civil war so blacks could be free...

Since the liberal Dems are all for equality and inclusion, let the slave owners currently alive pay the reparations to the former slaves that are still alive.
There is not one single negro former slave alive today and not one former slave owner alive today.
However, any congresscritter that feels they must ~ they are more than welcome to give THEIR salary away to whomever they feel is entitled.

Exactly. While many are upstanding members of society, there are the others that just because they're black, they're owed something. It's not my fault that they, or their lineage made poor choices since 1865. The welfare system breeds leeches. Generations of welfare recipients on the government teat. It is time that we had a conversation about reparations.
We must consider that the countries from which black slaves were taken, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Ghana, are today disease ridden poverty stricken hell holes run by dictators. Not a single democracy on the entire continent.
And we must recognize that the black African slaves brought over here in 1800 had it pretty bad. Many died on the slave ships. They had to work hard in the cotton fields. Black families could be broken up, and the husband taken away from the wife and sold down the river, never to see his wife again.
We must also recognize that the descendants of these slaves now live in the greatest and richest country in the world. And some of these black Americans, who had ancestors who were slaves, are doing quite well. Oprah Winfrey has a net worth of over a billion dollars. Michael Jordan was paid $17 million a year to throw a ball through a hoop.
I wonder how much Michael would have made if he were still living in Ivory Coast. The luckiest blacks in the world, the wealthiest, the ones with the best access to good health care, and the ones with the most freedom, live today in our country.
So, naturally Oprah and Michael are grateful that they now live in America. They recognize that my family has been in America for two hundred years, my family has helped to build American and make life great for black Africans, and Oprah and Michael want to pay me reparations.
That is most gracious of them, but I must refuse, I am a self made man and do not like handouts, no matter how well intentioned.0
