Scrap copper and new toy

Scrapped my copper last weekend, and hitting the big gun show next weekend. Had just over 5,000 in scrap copper and 200 in brass cases I cleaned up at the range. Going to purchase a new Dillion xl650 with all the extras. I might also look for a new rifle, but undecided what I want right now, so that can wait. I love my RCBS rock chucker single stage press, but it takes forever to reload certain ammo. I will keep the single stage for my 22 Hornet, 218 bee and 22 Jet. The new dillion will be to reload my 41, 45, 223 and 257 Roberts. These are the rounds I load a lot of. Oak

    My brother has a dillion. He has been very pleased with his and bought it a long time ago. Never any complains.

    I did all my reloading off a sing stage press. Also cast and sized/lubed my own slugs when I was shooting 38/357 exclusively back in the 70's and early 80's. Before I became disabled. I used to enjoy my reloading. It was time spent to unwind from the stresses in life.

    Proud to say out of the many thousands of rounds I reloaded I never had one cartridge misloaded. I also loaded for my 30-06.

    Outside of rimfire guns I kept it simple. A couple of Smith & Wesson revolvers, and a couple custom 1903's .

    sounds like a plan
    when I worked construction scraps of copper were scrounged by every one but I did manage to get some ( like a blind hog and a acorn )
    it was always nice to get a few extra $$ on rare occasions
    I was always just a single stage then turret press reloaded ( which I have slacked off big time on ) but they kept me going
    my youngest son and one of his buddies bought two dillion presses maybe 550 ? do every thing but wash dishes , they have each set up one for a separate caliber ammo 9mm and maybe 308 or 5.56 most of the time
    now my youngest son has a passion for MG's good god the ammo he burns up is crazy with out reloading he would be broke in three days or less :shock:

    I remeber the days when I used to go fishing with my father and on our way home we stopped at every local dump to pick copper wiring.

    Then we would put it in a 55 gallon drum and burn the insulation off. It would create such a lot of black smoke. Then we would bring copper to local junk yard for cash. Paid for many fishing trip.

    Can't imagine burning the wire that way now, we would have a full HAZMAT incident.
