I was on a flight out of mcallen Texas were take off was initially delayed and we sat detached from the gate for awhile - federal marshals and TSA and airport police came aboard via the mobile stairway car thingy and took off an angry guy who kept showing a badge and self identifying...

He was out of state SWAT demo and had dumped out one of his team gear bags and used it as a piece of checked luggage...

The det cord and plastic and other explosive residues and trace element remnants set off some baggage compartment scanner like a Christmas tree...

    Idiot.

I have a letter from the TSA in my file that covers my setting the explosive scanners off from shooting and reloading activities - that the residue gets into the skin and cannot be washed off - also on my clothing...

After that they never put me through a scanner or additional levels of screening.

I'm guessing you're not real popular at home right now.

You guessed wrong. She could have picked up the residue in the truck. Either way they just scanned her, no clothes off check or to the room.

Mr. Mike- you would appreciate what I used to go through- I TAUGHT blasting!

*Sir, your computer bag tests positive for TNT and RDX*

*Better run it again. You should be getting HMX as well*

Did TSA seem to get a bit touchy about the presence of high level explosives?

Wife not me. She hasn't flown since HS when she went to France. I had to talk her into it. She was laughing when she called and told me. They didn't give her a hard time at all just questions and scanned. I told her she was a Dr. Terrorist Teacher.

Gun powder burns, it is not an explosive. (It burns real fast.)

You may want to launder your clothing if you have been putting fertilizer in the garden.

My wife borrowed my hunting bag to go on a trip out west. She made it through Philly and Denver , no Problem. On the way back, she got pulled out of line and stripped searched. Seems there was a few rounds of 270 and 41 mag in her bag :o She was not happy. Missed her flight home. The guys that were doing the investigation, were very friendly and got a laugh out of it. The confiscated the ammo and sent her on the next plane home, to chew my ass out.

Took them a while to find someone that knew what a Blaster's License was.
    Bless their little hearts.....
