I'll be laid up for the next two months:
Finally had my much over due left ankle fusion yesterday.
Sitting in the recliner with my foot propped up while I'm hopped up on Oxycodone.
Doc says I can't put weight on my foot for a good 60 days. Looks like I'll miss turkey season this year. but hopefully
Ill be walking before summer.
I can't get to my shop, so keeping busy there is out of the question.

Heal completely. Get better each day. Prayer and best wishes. 0 -
Time to catch up on some of those classic movies and good books. See if you can convince your significant other to run to the local library for you and keep you up to snuff.
Feel and heal better soon brother!0 -
Good luck to you.
Do what you're supposed to do.
Don't push it.
Stay ahead of the pain with your Meds.0 -
Get well and good luck. I hope you have a dog at your feet. 0 -
That is tough- listen to those docs! 0 -
If you can't go to the turkey's can you bring the turkeys to you? There are lots of them out there maybe even a few right on these forums! Godspeed for a fast recovery, listen to your Dr. He makes the big bucks for a reason...

Wheel chair ? Make sure you don't do anything to prevent complete healing. I am in a wheel chair so was just curious if that would work to get you into your work bench to at least pass some of the time away with a small project or two.
Make sure whatever you do not to mess up the doctors work.0 -
Hope you heal up stronger than ever and able to get around better than you have for a while. Maybe draw up some of those ideas of new leather projects that have been in your head for some time. While two months sounds like a long time, in the whole picture not so bad once all better. 0 -
I've got a co-worker that's been laid up from knee surgery for 5 months now. They replaced his lost cartilage with cadaver cartilage. I tease him that he'd have recovered from amputation much faster. He had to spend 60 days completely off his feet, he's finally walking with a crutch. Best luckw ith recovery. illegitimi non carborundum 0 -
Can you rent one of those hospital type rolling tables they use to serve food on to do some crafting if you get bored with other things while you are laid up. Sometimes the lazyboy, laptop and TV just wont cut it for the creative types.
Make the best of it and drink lots of fluids.0 -
Get you one of these and don't slow down...

Will you be able to ride this summer?
It would be a shame for your bike to sit there all summer looking lonely.0 -
Take care of it so you can get the most out of it later. Best wishes from here. 0 -
Be sure and flex your legs often. You don't want a blood clot from lying idle for long periods. 0 -
Time to play the sympathy card, often! 0 -
The Doc told my wife that they also replaced lost cartilage with cadaver cartilage. It doesn?t look favorable for me riding the bike this summer. I do have a little four wheel scooter that I put my left knee on and I?m able to scoot around the house on. We had to pull up all the area rugs so it wouldn?t hang up on them & pitch me off onto the floor.
Last night Claudia caught a stomach bug, and has been throwing up since. Now we have a house of invalids...
