Do you Sample your Dogs Treats?
These new "Sports Blend bisquits," are the Cats Meow. (See what I did there? 
) Sized like Cheezits, they are quite good.
I teased him when I brought them out for the first time this evening. (Acting like I was eating one - He had to have one.)
Decided to try one. [Hey, get away from my sheeit. These are only $1.59/lb.! ]
I've not decided to partake of his favorite, the Smoked Pigs Ears, (Yet.)
He has another "Favorite," look like 3.5-4' dried Beef sticks. (He loves them.) [About 4-6" at a time.]
They taste like ground sawdust. I don't see what he is so enamored about. :roll:

The wife buys the dogs all kinds of exotic dog treats. I stick with the miik bone bisqit type. Yes, have sampled and not bad... 0 -
No I?ve got better sense than to eat dog food I don?t care what it tastes like ams long as the dog likes it. I did make one of my sister?s boyfriends a sandwich from canned dog food once. Dumbass ate it too. 0 -

what worries me is with 4 dogs was five but just lost buddy several weeks back
any way most of them will not even take let alone eat a hot dog or bologna
watching a dog wolf down cat poop and turn down processed meat well ya know they may be smarter than I give them credit for0 -

My dogs get 2 treats, jerky i mak, mostly venison. And carrots..they love their orange sticks.. yep I eat with them 0 -
Once. Years ago I tried a Milk Bone dog biscuit. It wasn't bad. It wasn't good. It was the definition of BLAND. It tasted like a cracker made up of just flour and water and with NO salt. I suppose you could eat them as a filler if you were starving. They won't hurt you, but they aren't very nutritious. 0 -
We have a few gun club members that I have known for decades who are big game trophy hunters - including a pair who do African and Asian safari hunts - elaborate expensive ordeals
They often bring back jerky or flavored dehydrated meats from afar
They label as dog treats or pet food and the packages can only weigh so much - each individual can only carry or pack back so much (I don't understand this stuff beyond surface details)
So when I get lesser kudu jerky or cape buffalo jerky or springbok jerky or dik-dik jerky passed onto me I - we will sample it
I being me - we being the girls and my father and the dog / ferret / hedgehog and other local canine friends
I have chopped and diced some up and added it to slow cooker meals
Oryx and Savannah buffalo and bison and reindeer and moose and tule elk and caribou and aoudad and antelope and wild boar and javalina and quagga and bush pigs and grey rheybuck and impala and mountain reedbuck and emu and ostrich and Maui axis deer and wildebeest and eland and warthog and nyala bull and sable and gemsbok and etc...
I have been receiving it and eating it and cooking with it and feeding it to dogs and other pets since I was 12 years old.

I only give my dog homemade food and treats. That includes homemade jerky without all the sodium and Raw vegetables for treats. So absolutely, although the jerky could use a little salt 0 -

I've got one dog that is absolutely crazy about Bananas. I usually only give him a small piece, just a taste, but if I make the mistake of leaving the peels laying on the table they are gone as soon as I turn my back. When I say crazy, I mean a whole new level of crazy, he really loves naners.
When my youngest was about 8 years old I caught him eating some Rabbit pellets (Alfalfa) I asked him how they tasted, he said the green ones were pretty good, but the black ones tasted like crap. I said black ones, let me see, Johnny don't eat the black ones those are Rat turds.0 -

A RETIREE'S LAST TRIP TO PETCO
Yesterday I was at Petco buying a large bag of Purina dog chow for my loyal pet, Necco, the Wonder Dog, which weighs 191 lbs. I was in the check-out line when a woman behind me asked if I had a dog.
What did she think I had an elephant?
So because I'm retired and have little to do, on impulse I told her that no, I didn't have a dog, I was starting the Purina Diet again. I added that I probably shouldn't, because I ended up in the hospital last time, but that I'd lost 50 pounds before I awakened in an intensive care ward with tubes coming out of most of my orifices and IVs in both arms.
I told her that it was essentially a Perfect Diet and that the way that it works is, to load your jacket pockets with Purina Nuggets and simply eat one or two every time you feel hungry. The food is nutritionally complete so it works well and I was going to try it again. (I have to mention here that practically everyone in line was now enthralled with my story)
Horrified, she asked if I ended up in intensive care, because the dog food poisoned me. I told her no, I stopped to pee on a fire hydrant and a car hit me.
I thought the guy behind her was going to have a heart attack he was laughing so hard.
Petco won't let me shop there anymore. Better watch what you ask retired people. They have all the time in the world to think of crazy things to say.0 -

Wheat is really bad for dogs, and the sodium in any store bought broth will kill your dog' even the low sodium Type. But I might try that using rice flour, and homemade broth.
And that's something that I would actually myself. I just love peanut butter on apples0 -

I ate one of the Milk Bone treats as a kid on a dare. Not terrible. I could live off of them for a while if I had to in a SHTF scenario.0 -

I buy Elcheapo dog biscuits (treats) @ the $$$ store , they seem to enjoy the "treats" , I tried them , Kinda bland , a lil better with P-Nut Butter on them :
Dogs like them with the "butter" on them too : (thats how I give them Meds) :::

Gave some more Sports Blend Bisquits to the dog just now. He also got about 5" off the 4' dried beef stick. I abstained from eating any.
I have take home Chinese Buffett waiting. (He is not getting any.)0 -
