I bought this for under 1 dollar. I soaked mine in white vinegar and then scrubbed it with a wire brush and washed it with soap and water.
The vinegar made the tool a dull clean so i just ran it through my wire wheel on my grinder gently and it looks almost as good as new. It looks about 3 years old instead of 90.
After that i ran it through my parts washer so it will not rust.

Hard to pass up those kind of bargains. You can also use a Boric Acid solution to derust. It is slow acting and leaves a grey surface. 0 -

My go to for taking rust off of nuts and bolts and other car parts is Muriatic Acid diluted with an equal amount of water and then wire brush. Be careful because it is acid. 0 -
