Sword people: questions
So, I am currently in the market for a good sword, but don't really know much about any of the available makers, makes, or styles. I'd like to buy a mid-upper level actual battle capable sword but I really don't even know where to start, so any help would be appreciated.
Length I am interested in would be approx 22-24 inches.
Double bladed.
Pointed end for thrusting.
I guess that is something similar to the Greek Xiphos style (I think):

But perhaps with a larger hilt?
If you know of any good resources for learning, that would be appreciated as well.

not much help but a story
one of my old bosses was into martial arts ( since he was a kid ) got into the sword / knife part of it
he wanted a true Japanese ( old, authentic sword ) but had a hard time parting with the money , but always looking may still be as far as I know
his wife's uncle ( she was Japanese ) gave him a short sword ( sorry do not remember the names of each version due to length of the blade ) his wife would not allow it in the house until it was cleansed by a t priest of any souls / spirits it may have taken on during its use .
he did so to keep with in his wifes wishes0 -

No I have never bought from them. I did buy a Sabre from Cold Steel years ago. My Team was into weird stuff and we all went and took Fencing lessons with Sabre's.
I still have it and mess with it maybe twice a year, do some drills. It is a 1796 pattern light Cavalry Sabre. Once you learn how to use one they are deadly, I mean you can really mess someone up with one especially if they don't know what they are doing.0 -

I know where you can get a real nice sword free.
You just have to fight the "Lady of the Lake" for it.
This may be where the saying: "i lost all my guns in a boating accident" started.

Flea bay has a huge stock of Eastern European block blades. Even Damascus And very reasonable prices. Just do a search for your style. 0 -
I suggest 5160 spring steel, I have a European type two handed long sword that is close to indestructible, it cuts the rolled Jap beach mats as good if not better than my friends $2000.00 Katana and holds a great edge. Beware of China steel descriptions on sword ads. 0 -

You're just mad, because your name isn't Arthur.

Get ?The Needle?. It worked well for the little girl on Game of Thrones. Light fast rapier would probably beat the larger heavier sowards in a real fight. 0
