    Stage 4 pancreatic, only hope is to have things made right with ones maker.
    Have had several friends that have had this problem, 6 months is about it. About the worst kind of cancer one can deal with.
    Morphine is your friend.

    Stage IV colon rectal cancer - massive advanced rapid growth tumor - spread to the lymph nodes - inoperable brain tumor - etc...

    I am still not dead yet two plus years from diagnosis

    My mom lasted 9 months with it. She did the chemo and radiation. I think I would ship the treatment and just try to enjoy my limited time on earth.

    I was with her when she got the news and was with her when she took her last breath in the livingroom of her house.

    I wish Mr Trebek the best.

    Saw his video announcement. A very 'upbeat' person. Said he couldn't fail,, has three years left on his contract. :) Anyone with that attitude should last at least a little longer.

    My Grandmother had pancreatic cancer. Took her about 5 months back in 1977. All these years later and really not much has been done to stop it. In all my years I?ve only met 1 person who beat pancreatic cancer and she is 10 years from her last treatment.

    he's had a good run, and lots of great opportunities and wealth...at 78 he's lived longer than many....no reason for folks to get tore out the frame over it.

    Before I had cancer - before I understood what cancer meant I remember one gun club member I had known since I was maybe 10 years old - whom I had heard had stage IV pancreatic cancer

    I remember him coming by once when I had range duty and we talked for about an hour and reminisced about times gone by - shook my hand

    I only realized later he was making the rounds saying goodbyes to folk

    He is still alive today

    He said he will complete his 3 year contract. But he won't. Pancreatic cancer is the worst. Patrick Swayze had it, so did Billy Carter, so did Alan Rickman, the bad guy in Die Hard 1.

    None of them lasted 6 months.

    So look at it this way.

    While I believe most of you care about me on a basic level and others are heavily invested in my well being and survival...

    Intellectually most of you must have expected me to die by now or to be dead sometime soon.

    I think only a few here actually actively wish I would die already - most of you wish you could somehow sacrifice some part of your selves or trade some of your time if it mage me better or allowed me to live longer.

    Many of you would gladly take some of my burden of pain to allow me some relief.

    Unfortunately that's not possible - at least I have found no method to shield from pain or protect from death any of the cancer afflicted I have encountered - no matter how hard I try or wish or pray.

    And even the most even tempered and stoic and strong minded / unflappable here get rather upset when I am have dark days mentally - mark Christian for one

    But my thought still is pro being vocal and talking about death and cancer and such - not to be a disrespectful douche - but discuss the issue we must

    One of the downsides to sharing my cancer narrative here with such a wonderful group of friends and family and comrades and peers is the weight of the knowledge upon my shoulders that when cancer does finish me off so many of you will experience pain and loss and sorrow and anger

    Yes Alec is probably a dead man walking especially at his age - but than so am I - that moniker can and should be applied to me.

    So wishing him well is okay - being Frank about his survival chances is okay - just consider how others here with cancer or having lost one to cancer may feel before you submit a post

    I know things I have said we'll meaning have hurt people here greatly

    Death is unavoidable. We can only hope to be as comfortable as possible as it comes.

    You don't really know how you'll react to death until you've looked the Grim Reaper squarely in the eyes and it's just you and him. The odds are not in your favor and it's no joking matter I can tell ya that!

    Good friend, a bit older, like a brother, father, came down with it. He knew it for some time before he fessed up. Lasted just a few months. Tough for 50 year old man to hold his father in his arms for two days while he suffered an almost unbearable pain until he passed.
