Marlin Model 90 shotguns
Does anyone know much about these shotguns? Marlin Model 90 over under shotguns. Can?t seem to find any info on them.

I had one for several years. It was a double trigger 12 ga. Modified and full. It was a good serviceable field gun and I enjoyed shooting it for upland birds. Its trigger guard is rather bulky and tends to smack your middle finger when firing the modified barrel. I never had a breakage, so I would rate it as reliable. 0 -
Back in the 80s I also had one. Built like a tank. Kind of clunky with poorly designed stock and trigger guard. Unless it is in great condition and buying as a collector piece then I would pass. Probably the best alternative would be to spend a few more bucks and find a good used Citori as they are much better designed and never have to worry about parts being available. Just my 2 cents. I've got a few Model 90's , they are an fairly inexpensive, reliable over under. They were also marketed under the Ranger trademark for Sear's + Roebuck. One in .410 would be a good find. 0 -
I had one in the 60's shot skeet on mil. team, made a mistake and reblued and it meleted the joint, I worked in gun shop in witchita falls Tx
It worked well and went to Browning lighting later. tks hedge my old name

I have a model 90 in 12ga, but mine is a single trigger model.
Nice little shotgun. I bought it from a friend who needed money.
I gave him $140 for it and he was happy.
This was the first time I realized that Marlin had even made shotguns!0 -
I sort of collect the small bore and combination Marlin Model 90's.
I like the 410 Skeet King Deluxe and the 22/410 Deluxe engraved the best! They are beautiful little guns with great lines and they are a joy to shoot.
I have had a number of the 20's, 16's, and 12's over the years and prefer the ones with no space between the barrels. I think they are much more attractive. They all carry and shoot well.
They were true Utilitarian (for the guy who "wanted just a little better")shotguns in their day. A working mans Over and Under........

I purchased my first Marlin yesterday at an estate auction. When I was young I used my father's Model 60 .22 squirrel hunting, but never owned one myself. As I was looking through the online catalog of guns for the estate, an over/under Model 90 caught my eye. I looked up as much information on the gun as I could find and decided that if I could I would purchase the gun. It went for more than I initially wanted to spend, but I bought it anyway.
The gun is a Model 90 double trigger 410. The stamp on the receiver is DXXX so from what I gathered it was produced in 1947. The receiver is silver and has very detailed scroll work with a squirrel on one side and a rabbit on the opposite side. The wood seems to be an upgrade over most other M90 that I have seen.
I was wondering if anyone has any additional information on the gun. I will take some pictures this evening and post them.0 -
Well, double barrel 410's often seem to command a premium, so perhaps it was a good buy anyway. 0 -
