Anvils...why do you collect anvils?! :) Do you still live at the same place? How are the politics in your area nowadays?! What about fishing, cooking, and beach time? I don't get out of the house near as much as I'd like to, especially during winter, but the weather is starting to look up some, so the wife and I try to go somewhere most every day now.

I still live here in South FL and spend much time in my place in the keys and in general life is exceptionally good down here.
And yes I still cook quite often, as far as politics this area is mostly conservative so liberals generally keep a low profile, someone here in Marathon nailed a MAGA sign on a coconut tree on Sombrero beach road and the City came with a lift and removed it, a couple days later every other coconut tree had a MAGA sign on it so high the City's lift couldn't reach them so they still hang, how an the hell this guys did that is a mystery they are probably friends with a coconut monkey or something. And yes I know global warming hit you hard this year.

Well it all started when a friend borrowed my old anvil for a few days and it was stolen when his shop was burglarized, at the time I didn't make much of it and told him not to worry that I would find another one, and much to my surprise good quality anvil prices had gone thru the roof, in todays market my old Swedish one is worth a small fortune, so I called a cousin back in Italy that did a little research for me and bingo I've been buying excellent quality mostly antique Italian anvils for much better prices, freight up to 1500 lb is $600 per pallet and I've imported up 5 anvils on one shipment, I recently sold one made in the 1700's that actually paid for 4 others and freight, so yes investing in anvils now days is better than investing in gold.

Just lost my post to you! :( Just when everything seemed to be going so good!

Happy to know that life in general is exceptionally good, and that fishing, cooking, and spending some time at your place in the Keys is a big part of it. That, and making money with your anvil enterprise and contact with your cousin in Italy playing a significant part too! The MAGA hat story is a good one. Thanks!

It has been a colder than usual winter up here during the evenings. :)

Hi Randy, I used to be Onehandude and Capt Fun changed my user name at my request, I believe this happened when you were absent from the forum for a while.

Yeah the sob's also stole welding equipment two drill presses and a host of other tools, at first I though who would steal an anvil until I realized anvil prices had gone totally crazy, I am told people buy them for d?cor and flowers or coffee table stands screwing up the market for blacksmith's that use them for real.
